I was in a local Museum which served as both an arena for antiques and also as a zoo. Sorry, I can't remember the name of that exact Museum but, I went there in the final quarter of 2020. That was when the lockdown that came with COVID-19 was already getting eased and people were finally beginning to get their lives back.
During my visit to this Museum, I went into several rooms that housed several figurines made of terra-cotta. That was the signature pattern adopted by the Noks whenever they made their artwork The figurines and the antiques housed in the museum were priceless, as far as I can tell.
None of the stuff displayed there was for sale, but I can imagine the number of millions that had to be on the table if they were to be valued and verified to be authentic. There were also some mud and thatched buildings erected around the Museum premises. The information I got from the tour guard is that the house had been there before the coming of Civilization.
We strolled around the premises where most of these huts were positioned and so many of those who came for the tour were looking at it, taking pictures and some were even trying to articulate their thoughts about what it would feel like to live in a house like that compared to the structures we have now.
After spending a fair amount of time in the zone that had that hut, we went further to an era where ancient vehicles were kept. History buffs like myself enjoyed being in this area. I remember going back to read more about each of the events punctuated by the vehicles that were housed in the museum.
This for an example.
According to the description, it's one of the first kit cars used by miners in Plateau Province over 50 years ago. The things housed in the museum were not in any way modern, but they were jaw-dropping and people lined up to feed their eyes with it.
Now, the question is; What's the relevance of all these Art to us as humans?
Since I'm such a huge fan of economics, I like to look at something like this from the economic value it offers. And, for the most part, the economic value that Art offers is incalculable. Also, it's fairly obvious that a piece of art becomes more valuable the longer it stays in existence, especially when it's valued by people who have a well-developed sense of beauty.
If you check some of the most visited countries in the world, the huge inflow of tourists they get is mostly because people are coming to appreciate the works of art captured and maintained in the country. Can you even imagine the economic value of all that?
I know that we are in a world that is ruled by science. There have been students who chose to get a liberal Arts degree and got cajoled for that decision. Well, if that's what you love, I suggest you go for it. Art is amazing and it will always be part of what projects beauty in our society.
Your ability to articulate your thoughts and communicate them concisely is also part of Art. This shows that Art is part of life.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma.
All pictures used in the post ate mine, taken when I visited the arena.
You are fortunate to get to see those historical items first hand..... I only get to read of them in books and it's so unsatisfying.
Although I am science inclined, there's a part of me that relishes aestetic and artistic beauty. Nature alone is a great testifier of the beauty that art holds.
I'm sure that experience was a fun and memorable one......cheers
Exactly. It was a very good experience. All those that came to spend time in the arena really enjoyed the time. Also, it helped us to relax our mind in the midst of all the Covid19 drama
I'm planning to go for an event like this again, if I squeeze out time for it during Christmas.
Art is truly amazing and the power it holds is more than we know. A single art can have different meaning to people and this makes it special. Thanks for sharing these beautiful artworks.

Yeah. Art has an embedded value and ịta also speaks to people differently. The way one person values an art can be different from how another person would value that same art.
Daalụ 👍
Oh, ita also speak to people??? That's amazing, you know. Well done, ooo, Mr. Italy.
