Red Flags Are There For a Reason; Watch Out

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog. Happy new week, hope we all had an eventful weekend.

We all are peculiar in our attributes, behaviors, and characters, but despite our peculiarities, we sometimes have to meet at a common ground, especially for the people we love. But sometimes there are some bad or intolerable behavior that we can't just sit by and watch be displayed; we either talk about it point it out expecting a change or walk away.

Red Flags
Most of the time, we tend to be blinded by another thing in our relationships with others, and we ignore the red flags looking at us right in our faces.

Red flags in relationships are usually pointers to an unhealthy pattern or lifestyle. If these red flags are ignored or not handled, they can lead to toxicity in our relationships. Therefore, they need to be addressed.

Most times, when we are in a relationship with someone we love, we tend to overlook these red flags even when they are very glaring, and this often leads to regret, abuse, toxicity, or harm in the future that we never planned for.

Some Things I Consider Red Flags in my Relationship

Lack of Trust
Trust can be likened to the foundation or bedrock of a relationship; in my opinion, if it's not there, there's no relationship. The absence of trust in a relationship often leads to continuous accusations, sneaking up on your partner at every opportunity because you feel he or she is doing something something. When there's no trust in the relationship, there won't be peace, as everyone will be tense and suspicious of every move of the next person.

Abuse could either be physical or emotional. I think among all of the red flags I detest, this ranks number one. I once knew a couple, the husband never laid hands on the wife, but he was always talking down on her. I remember one time when I visited them, while the lady in question was trying to rustle up something to serve us, and she mistakenly broke a dish, from the living room you could hear the husband shout at her and ask if she was mad, and wasn't looking at where she was going that she broke the plate. He didn't fail to keep bringing it up throughout the dinner and I felt for her.
Everyone makes mistakes, but using them against the person is unacceptable and wrong. This is just one form of emotional abuse and most times people don't take it seriously, they just feel like 'he isn't laying his hands on me', 'he just doesn't know how to talk', 'he'll change', these and many more are what they tell themselves to avoid or ignore this abuse.

Jealousy
This is seen when your partner always feels worried about you hanging out with people and wants to keep you away from either your friends or family. This attribute is usually borne out of insecurity and controlling tendencies.

Disrespect
Respect in a relationship is vice versa, not just to one party. The lady is to respect the man. Likewise, the man is to respect the woman to ensure love and unity. Respect for one another in a relationship l makes the relationship less stressful because there's mutual respect among both parties.

These are some red flags that shouldn't be taken for granted, or rather that I would not take for granted.
