The Value of Relationships Over Wealth: Why Connections Matter More Than Money

in HiveGhana3 months ago

The society where the acquisition of money and the so-called ‘success’ is deemed as the most important, it is very easy to get lost and forget the things that are truly significant in life. Thus, family and friends are what makes us happy and satisfied, not money which is a material treasure, even if it can guarantee comfort and protection. Still, hundreds of scientific researches have proved that people with strong social bonds are happy and have a high quality of life.

But why is it that in relationships we look for emotions and trusts than for gold? That the answer is hidden in the concept of what it means to be a human will be disclosed below. Man is a social animal and out of all the creations that God has endowed he has provided us with the unique gift of interpersonal relationship. We are socially beings and from the time we are born we depend on the kind words and positive affirmations of other people. It’s so vital because the need for social relationships does not disappear in adulthood. Moreover, when it comes to facing the difficulties and the issues of life, we will find that our relationships are even more crucial.

Actually, that is one of the most important reasons why the value of relationships is seen to be very high since they help provide a sense of acceptance. It means that when we are bonded to people, they can really know us, and appreciate the person that we are. This sense of belonging is a necessity for the well-being of individuals and thus, members of groups feel secure about themselves. On the other hand, with all the money and other material things one can gain and possesses, there is no better feeling is to be valued and accepted by people close to us regardless of the situation.

social connections are a primary need in human life to satisfy our emotional state. Interpersonal relationships provide for us a security system that ensures that we are guided throughout the daily trial. Regardless of whether we are going through a personal turmoil, trying to make a choice, or just want to call someone up to hear a friendly voice, we all need people to turn to as a part of our psychological armor. Conversely, the attainment of money brings about increased feelings of alienation or loneliness due to the fact more emphasis is placed on the job and one’s income status than on one’s relationships.

Also, relationships give direction to our lives and give us a reason of existing. People’s lives can be changed to the better by investing in the relationship we have with other people. Whether they are in helping a friend in distress; giving back to our society; helping a neighbor; being available for a family member/relative, the working of the human bond creates more meaning in our lives. Here in contrast, the seeking of riches results in the lack of value in life, this is mainly because we may struggle to get full satisfaction in life as we continue to chase wealth.

Of course it is clear that money is good and can give one relative comfort and safety but it is in relationships that people find their purpose in life. Man is a social animal and is designed for relationships and that is where he gets his joy and feeling of accomplishment. Thus, the next time you become captive of the “richness fever”, try to recall the worth of relationships. Hold dear the bonds that you have, foster them, and rejoice, for that I can tell you hardly anything else in life gives as much pleasure than the people that we love.

To be honest. I agree with you to some extent.

Having a true and genuine relationship is very important for us as humans, many people don’t value the genuine connection they have right now until they lose it.

I love this. Thanks for sharing.

Money is not in any would never be a sole determinant of relationships value and trust. Many people of course trade it for money, but is has never ended well. That is why relationship values, caring for one another in the society whether big or small society matters, even in your home makes more meaning and a additional value to your relationship with people.
