Yesterday was an momentous day for Hive as we achieved a remarkable milestone with our maiden Hive seminar in Ghana. As previously announced, the seminar centered around Web3 and the Hive blockchain, and we are thrilled to report that the event was a resounding success.

This was to bring people together and introduce them to the Hive blockchain and Web 3 technology, which is rapidly gaining prominence as one of the fastest-growing technologies. In this post, we will provide an overview of how the event unfolded for the Hive community.

The Seminar And It's Organization

The vision of organizing a seminar to gather people and facilitate their learning about the Hive blockchain and Web3 was something that both @mcsamm and @collinz eagerly anticipated in Ghana. This was the driving force behind the planning of this seminar.

We recognized the importance of engaging individuals who possess knowledge about technology or are in the process of learning, and who aspire to maximize the potential of these advancements. Hence, we found it crucial to host the seminar at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a renowned educational institution in Ghana.

To ensure the tremendous success of this event and to provide an opportunity for as many people as possible to delve deeper into Web3 and blockchain technology, we collaborated with the Department of Computer Science, Computer Science Society(CSS) and the University Students Association of Ghana (USAG). Through our joint efforts, we aimed to create a significant impact and enable attendees to expand their knowledge and understanding of these subjects.

The seminar had a clear focus on empowering students to delve into the fundamental concepts and innovations of Web3 and the Hive blockchain and ecosystem. It shed light on various aspects of the Hive blockchain, such as Dapps, smart contracts etc. Additionally, the seminar aimed to enlighten students about the opportunity Hive offers to developers for building on the blockchain.

Moreover, the conference served as a source of inspiration for students to pursue entrepreneurship in the tech sector and establish successful tech businesses. They were provided with valuable information on how to build a thriving tech business, funding opportunities available for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, the seminar highlighted the importance of software development skills and open-source technologies. Students were exposed to coding and popular programming languages, frameworks, and more. To ensure the achievement of these objectives, we carefully selected and engaged experts who delivered informative presentations, enabling attendees to explore and learn from their expertise. These experts helped students gain insights into the abundant opportunities that technology presents in today's world.

The Main Event And Presentations

The seminar was carefully scheduled in the morning and we ensured it did not disrupt any ongoing lectures on campus. It commenced with informal activities at 10:30 a.m. to engage the early attendees until all guests had arrived. The official event began at 11:30 a.m. with an opening prayer, followed by an announcement of the purpose of the gathering.

The first presentation on Web3 and blockchain technology was delivered by Dr. Emmanuel Ahene, a lecturer at KNUST. He provided valuable insights into the subject matter. This was followed by a presentation on software development delivered by Dr. Frimoong Twum, another esteemed lecturer from the Department of Computer Science at KNUST.

IMG_20230622_100116.jpg

Dr. Twum's presentation was followed by an informative talk on tech startups by Mr. Spencer Korankye, a successful tech startup founder. The final presentation focused on the Hive blockchain and its ecosystem, delivered by Mr. Philip Anaman, a dedicated member of Hive and a crypto enthusiast.

IMG_20230622_094153_312.jpg

To kick off Mr.Anaman's presentation, a welcoming video created by @mcsamm and myself was shown to introduce the attendees to the world of Hive. Following the video, the participants were guided through the Hive ecosystem and introduced to key aspects of the Hive blockchain.

The seminar fostered an interactive environment, allowing students to engage with the speakers after each presentation. This provided them with the opportunity to ask questions, learn from the experts, and gain valuable knowledge that they could leverage in our rapidly evolving technological world.

Indeed, this seminar provided a wonderful opportunity for students, particularly those who were already engaged in learning about web3 and working on projects related to Web3 and blockchain technology.

Success Stories

We were thrilled to witness an impressive turnout of 500 plus students for the event, which clearly demonstrated their eagerness to learn about the rapidly growing Web3 and blockchain technology.

The venue was packed to its full capacity, surpassing the available seating, and some participants had to engage with the conference from outside the hall. This overwhelming response has motivated us to plan for a larger conference hall for the next Hive event to accommodate the increasing number of attendees.

IMG_20230622_091633_913.jpg

Furthermore, a significant number of students expressed keen interest in becoming part of the Hive blockchain and promptly signed up to embark on their Hive journey. We had an impressive number of sign-ups on the day of the seminar, and we are still counting as more students continue to join (updates on the final count will be shared later).

The ease and efficiency of the sign-up process, thanks to the dedicated tools and creative resources provided, contributed to the successful registration of new Hive accounts. Additionally, all signees were encouraged to scan a QR code that directed them to join the dedicated Telegram and WhatsApp groups created to assist with the sign-up process and provide mentorship support.

Yesterday, 250 students joined the groups, and most of them had successfully completed the sign-up process. We are currently planning a virtual meeting to guide those who signed up through their first exploration of the Hive ecosystem. This will provide them with the necessary support and assistance before they embark on their journey with Hive.

The success of the event has instilled a deeper appreciation for Hive within the Department of Computer Science, prompting them to propose the establishment of a Hive club on campus. They have warmly opened their doors to us for future conferences, and the lecturers have expressed their willingness to provide support and actively participate in any upcoming Hive events held at the university and in Ghana. We were also fortunate to have some media outlets that attended the event, and their coverage will be broadcasted to reach a wide audience, allowing them to learn about the Hive seminar.

The Fun, The Excitement,And Refreshment

While the seminar primarily focused on intellectual discourse and learning, it also provided an exciting and engaging experience through various entertaining activities. One such activity was the Hive surprise sessions, where the first 40 students who arrived on time were pleasantly surprised with a package containing Hive branded shirts, books, and pens. This added an element of excitement and reward for their punctuality and participation.

Additionally, all attendees were provided with refreshments such as water and snacks to ensure they remained energized throughout the event. Question and answer sessions were conducted, allowing participants to actively engage with the speakers and receive Hive gifts as recognition for their excellent contributions.

Moreover, students were given the opportunity to capture memorable moments through photo sessions. This provided a wonderful chance for them to mingle with their peers, create lasting memories, and foster a sense of camaraderie. The combination of engaging activities, learning opportunities, and fun moments made the seminar a well-rounded experience for the students, allowing them to both expand their knowledge and enjoy themselves.

Such a huge turnout! Do you know how many of them signed up for an account?

Edit: I can see from the post that you are still counting the sign ups. I would be interested to know what it ends up being.

Thank you for expressing your strong interest in the growth of Hive, and we greatly appreciate your support @demotruk. Due to the large turnout, not everyone was able to complete the sign-up process during the seminar. We are grateful for the exceptional work done by hivecreators- @enrique89, who has facilitated communication through platforms like Telegram and WhatsApp. We are still engaging the participants, and the current figure is quite impressive. An update regarding the final count will be provided soon. We are also scheduling a virtual meeting to initiate a mentoring program with all the participants.
