A New Water Source for Gumani, Gh: Changing Lives with Hive

in HiveGhanayesterday

I am glad to be sharing the launch 19th Hive Borehole project in Northern Region of Ghana, this time in the Gumani community in Tamale. This borehole is yet another key step to confronting the dire water crisis that has afflicted the area for years. With the generous support from the Hive blockchain community another impact is possible and we look forward to bringing a life-changing solutions to town and to proof that technology and collective action can indeed create the real impact.

Water scarcity in Northern Region is an everyday battle due to the regions low rainfall, limited suface wayer sources, economic and policy constraits and others. In Gumani, many families walk long distances simply to collect water, typically from unsafe sources and this expose them to severe health risks. The burden is particularly heavy on women and children, who find themselves wasting hours every day in search of water instead of pursuing education or income-generating activities.

Although several organizations have tried to address this crisis, many of these endeavours have fallen flat, either due to inadequate preparations, poor infrastructure, or insufficient community participation in proper maintenance. With Hive, we believe we can drive a change and bring about transformation. With the Borehole building, we focus on expert planning, community involvement and careful excution of project work. Qe have done the borehole survey which is always undertaken to determine that the drill will be successful, prior to any drilling commencing.

We do this with profound water resource specialists and this is extremely fundamental for realizing the underground water sources that are best to utilize. It’s about studying the land, ensuring the water table is raised, and making sure the drilling takes place in a location that draws the highest efficiency and longevity. Without this step, many of the boreholes will run dry or become unusable in a matter of months. But with careful planning, we will ensure that this borehole will deliver clean, accessible water for years to come.

In Gumani, the excitement is palpable. Families are optimistic that they will soon have a reliable water source right in their neighborhoods. This borehole is more than water, it is health, education and opportunity. Safe drinking water means children can take more of their exams, women can pursue more jobs and the whole community can deliver more economic results. We will continue to share updates on our journey as we progress into the drilling phase. We are changing lives, together through innovation, through technology, and through compassion. Thank you for supporting this amazing mission every drop matters and with you, we belive we can do it!
