This is actually a tough one...š¤
Lol, just kiddingš
Iām choosing passportā¦ sharps!
Iām choosing passport without a thought!
Iām choosing passport any day! All day! Everyday!!
No disrespect or offence intended to those that might choose the latter, but cāmon nauā¦really??
Lolā¦thatās on a lighter note though
Now letās be serious.
Even in a flourishing economy, Iāll still choose passport over a phD. And I have my reasons.
it is important to note that I have nothing against education.
On the contrary, I love education. I think it is good, and it is a necessity too. I also love meeting educated people. The experience with highly educated people is top notch. But this conversation will be for another day.
However, the educational systemā¦ especially in Nigeria is too stiff for my liking.
I donāt know how it is in other African countries though. But in Naijaā¦omoā¦ thereās less room for flexibility.
You barely have time for other things. school will drain you of your energy, your time, your focus and your money. Only for you to graduate and thereās no job.
And then you realize you donāt possess those necessary skills that are required to save you from your current predicament because you were not able to learn and develop them while in school.
Now youāre trying to put yourself together and learn those skills, somebody will now come and be saying āyou should further your education. Get your masters, and then your phDā¦bla bla blaā abeg gerrout sirā¦lol
Another reason why I wonāt choose a phD is because, the idea of a white collar job(which is what Nigerian schools are about) isnāt for me.
Just the thought of having to wake up early, wearing a suit, and leaving my house early in the morning gives me this cringe feeling.
I need my early morning beauty(or handsomeness) sleep.
Unless during dinner dates, and some formal gatherings where there will be foodā¦please, let me be in my simple jean and t shirt.. I no fit shout
Wearing suits or just even tucking in my shirt gives me this very serious look. But Iām a jovial person.
Soā¦ yea. Itās personal.
If my parents were to see this, theyāll nod their heads hard in disappointment. But make dem no vex. I am my own man now.
Please, Iāll also like to point out that this isnāt an advice. Iām simply sharing an opinion ā my opinion.
If schooling is your thing, by all means, please chase it. Get as many phDs as you can carry. Become a professor if you can. The idea is knowing what works for you, and giving it your all, irrespective of what others say or think.
Youāre the captain of your ship ā which is this life that is given to you.
Make the most of it!!
i hope you enjoyed reading this.
see y'all some other time
You chose that without a second thought and your reasons are valid. Phd with no experience? Youāll sit home for the rest of your life with no job
someone who understands...finally.š
I like your style and good piece by the way
thank youā¤ļø
