Description from Strava:
It was a little frosty out there this morning as I saw people scraping their windscreens as I jogged to Henlow Bridge Lakes. This is likely to be my last parkrun of the year. I was going to volunteer, but they had enough people anyway.
With the lakes and river by the course it was quite misty, but I was expecting the sun to burn that off. There were a few people dressed up for Christmas including my friend who came as the Grinch. I knew she was going to get warm with all that. I was in regular running gear.
The course was still soft with a couple of mud patches. With that and my ongoing cold I was not going to break any records, but I gave it what I could. I settled into my pace and ran much of it on my own. I had to pass the finish a couple of times and they were playing Christmas music on the speaker there.
On the last lap I heard someone coming up and we ran together for a while before he went off and I could not keep up. I finished 25th of 113 and was a little quicker than last week.
As usual I went for a coffee with the regulars. One of the ladies who I did not know so well was telling us that she was an elite runner years ago and she can still do some great times in her 60s. We have a fair few runners who are of that age or older. They inspire me to keep going.
I walked back with the Grinch who was getting a few odd looks. She was off to see her relations and scare the kids.
I have had a fairly good year of parkrun. I have had some runs that were quicker than any I did last year so I hope to improve in 2026. I just have to keep up the training and avoid injury. I will be volunteering some more too.
I wish all the runners a wonderful Christmas.
Jingle all the way!

BEER.Hope you also have a great Xmas, honestly that last picture with the muddy field and the fog is a picture straight out of a horror movie although I have always love to run when its cold, once your body gets the heat, then is so fresh and you can really feel the energy, to get that kind of conditions in Panama you really have to wake up early like 3 a.m , its been a while since I have go out for a run, thx for sharing
It was not that bad really as I soon warmed up, but it can be a lot worse in mid-winter when the mud gets serious. The main issue is that it's hard to get grip, but that's part of the challenge.
Merry Xmas to you too!

BEER.The foggy vibe must have felt really enchanting, especially with Christmas tunes playing at the finish line ;)
That looks like something out of a classic English novel or something. Nice job on your run!
