Description from Strava:
I was marshalling at parkrun yesterday. The weather was not too bad then as some early rain did not last. Over a hundred runners turned out. I was talking to a lady who was cheering on her 82 year old father-in-law. After lunch we went to the Broadway cinema in Letchworth to see Wicked: For Good. We saw the first part there too. It is an impressive film with some clever scenes and great singing. It was filmed not too far from here.

I could hear the rain early this morning and so was wondering if I would go out. When I got up it seemed to have stopped, but then started again so I put on my (sort of) waterproof jacket and my Hive hat. I also wore my brand new Allbirds shoes. I got these in the sale and they are also supposed to be waterproof.

I did a longer version of my standard Sunday loop. I have been further recently, but I have had a cold and so am not pushing myself too hard for now. The rain really started as I headed up to Fairfield and lasted for a while. Having a dry head makes it bearable and it helps not to have wet glasses.

Of course there were lots of puddles and I tried to avoid those as much as possible. I also tried to avoid getting splashed by passing cars. My socks were a little damp at the end, but I did not get too cold. As I ran back towards Arlesey there was a rainbow.

The overall pace was not too bad considering the conditions. I have been doing a little extra for our Move-ember challenge and have logged running or walking every day this week. That has meant taking some walks just to get something for the day as I might not normally go out when working from home.

Since I got back the sun has come out. That is good as I needed to do a couple of outside jobs. We can also generate some solar power. I do like seeing how many other people have panels. If every home had some it would make a huge difference as people were saving money.

Have a good week and run free!

Love the Hive hat, where did you get it from?

And agree, wearing a hat makes it easier in the rain, not just for keeping rain of glasses, but I also find the rain less distracting if I can't actually feel it on my head.

We've had plenty of rain here yesterday, but I managed to get a run done this morning mostly in the dry

Hope you enjoy what's left of the weekend 🙂

I love your reply. It makes me wanna ask, “where’d you get the cat?“ 😸

imagine wearing a cat as a hat... not sure it would sit still on my head long enough, or that it would be much protection against the rain! 😅

I was sent a batch of Hive gear when organising a meetup a while back. I need to see what I have left. I was glad of the hat today, but I'm not much of a hat guy generally.

ah I see.

A peaked hat is a must when I run, but only when I run haha!

I can’t believe you left out the star of the photo! Shoes schmoes, who is that beautiful calico kitty?!

That is Nelly who we were fostering and have now adopted. She is a bit nervous, but getting more friendly.

!BEER

Nelly! ♥️♥️♥️

Short for Chanel. The animal charity has themes for names and it was fashion brands in her case. I'm not calling her that though.

What a great post to read on a Sunday morning whilst I’m having my coffee about which I just posted! 😂

I had no idea that Wicked: for Good was filmed in the UK. That’s so cool! I’ve not yet seen the film, nor the first one that you mentioned. But @bitterirony arrives this week so that we can celebrate US Thanksgiving in the UK! That would be the perfect opportunity to take in some films.

Stay dry, my sweet friend!!
☔️ 🏃‍♂️

Some of the sets were built at Ivinghoe and my other half could see them in the distance when she was supervising a school camping trip near there. It seems the big fields of tulips in the film were real. A lot of movies get filmed in the UK. Obviously the castles and stately homes get used.

The weather is looking quite varied. I know people think it rains a lot here, but I do not often get soaked on a run.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving. For obvious reasons it is not generally celebrated here.

In London, there are so many American expats that there are several hotels that offer a Thanksgiving feast. There are also many Methodist churches to do so and when we were living near Sloane Square in Belgravia our local church pride of themselves on their Thanksgiving event.

In Leeds, I don’t expect to find anything except for maybe over by the uni. But I figure I can make us a reservation at the Cut and Craft restaurant. They always deliver a good meal.

There used to be a US base near us so they would have celebrated there. I guess there are a few in London, along with every other nationality.

fantastic pace. Did you have to run faster than you would normally have to since you were marshalling?

I had a rest the day before as I did not run when I was marshaling. For this run I did want to get it over and done as it was not nice out there. Sometimes I just seem to have the energy to keep pushing.

Those are fantastic days when they happen! I mean about the energy levels, not the conditions or wet feet

They are also supposed to be waterproof

Judging by the wet shoes, I im assuming these didn't make good on their promise?

Sound lke a good sunday all round though, despite the rain :)

I think they kept some water out considering the conditions. The last pair were not at all waterproof and I've had other shoes that actually had holes for ventilation. As we go into winter I need something suitable for the weather I'll face.

Thats is definitely a good sign. You never going to get a running shoe that is 💯 percent waterproof. If it kept out a fair amount of water, sounds like this one is a winner!

!PIZZA

I have yet to heard of that movie 🤔 is it from major or minor house producers ?

Brave to go under the rain 😄

Oh it's just one of the biggest films of the year 😁

I think the type of shoes would be important while running in the rain. I hate when my feet are wet :)

Hermosa gorra de Hive me encanta
