So I am still following my runs to see if the message is true that it doesn't really matter how fast you do a certain amount of distance, it only matters how far the distance is as far as calories burned is concerned. For each person that amount is going to be different based on a lot of things such as age and weight, but for me my caloric burn for every 5k completed has been around 400 active calories burned.
I am not just doing this to lose or maintain my weight either, I have been enjoying actually getting better at running and reducing my per km speed. I am focusing on how good my continuous pace can be while staying in Aerobic or Anaerobic heart rate zones.

While this time is not impressive by real runner's standards, it is important to me because I wasn't capable of doing a 10k without stopping or continuously since I was a teen and even then I probably wouldn't have done it unless I was forced to.

While this heart rate data is higher than I would like it to be I will admit that I was pushing myself a bit on this particular day because I had that sort of vibe going on.
I would like to see this pace with a reduced heart rate where I am staying below 150 the entire time. I don't know if I can get to that point but then again, 5 months ago I didn't think I would be able to run a 10k yet here we are.

I would also like to see this per km pace get to around 7 minutes per km but for now I am more concerned about my overall endurance and the system that I have been following suggests that staying in zone 3 of your BPM's is the best way to improve overall endurance. Whether that is true or not is beyond me, but so far I am seeing improvements over time and that makes me happy.
If we break down the calories burned we can see that this is indeed burning about 420 calories (active burn) per 5km's so it would appear as though this is remaining steady for me. There have been a few rogue days where the data didn't line up but that could have been a tech failure rather than anything accurate.
I am going to take a few days off because I did two 10k's in back-to-back days and I think that this was a bit much for me. Time to recover!
