@dannewton just finished a 6.63km run, that lasted for 40 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 541.0 calories.

Description from Strava: After running on xmas day, I missed both the 26th and 27th Dec, as I was either A) relaxing, B) eating or C) watching TV. Today I felt like I could do with a bit of fresh air, and I need to go out in the morning as we'll be busy all afternoon.

Today was also a chance to test out one of my gifts for Christmas, which was a new Running Backpack. I've been using the old yellow one (shown below) for years, and it was long overdue to be replaced as it had seen better days

I can remember using it to run home from when I worked at Budgens, so thats at least 10 years ago!

The yellow one is from Mountain Warehouse, and the new black one is from Karrimor. They look to be a similar size (15 litres) but the Karrimor bag is better designed and fits better. Other than the age of the old bag, one reason I had been looking to replace it was that the straps are 'just' straps'. After using my running vest which has pockets everywhere, I kinda miss having a front pocket for my phone/keys etc.

As you can see here, the straps on the new bag are wide enough to feature pockets for my phone and keys, along with a drinks bottle or wallet if I wanted. Much better!

Today is the last of my days off, and I'll be back at work at 8am tomorrow (boo, hiss, etc!). As I'll be running home from work, I needed a test run with all my gear (work trousers/shirt/etc) to make sure the bag is actually suitable, and to check and adjust the fit of the straps if needed.

I chose a short route out along the bypass and back to test the bag out... its about 6km out and back, which is the same as the distance from work. And I'm happy to report that the bag works exactly how I wanted it. The fit felt comfortable, all my clothes fitted in there easily, and I loved having access to my phone while running

in my old bag, the phone just went in the back, and I'd have to stop and take it off if I needed the phone or anything else... the new bag is much better

If I wanted to complain, then I could mention that those front pockets are snug for my phone, and it can be a slight pain to try and get it out... only a minor complaint mind you, and on the whole I'm very happy with it.

awkward selfie alert - I was concentrating so hard on getting a picture of myself that I forgot to actually smile, but I can assure you I'm feeling very happy here, honest!

Back home, its now time for a shower, and to do some ironing (as I'm back at work tomorrow), and we'll be heading out this afternoon to visit my partners family for 'games night'. And I say 'night' I mean we'll start at 2pm and likely still be going at 10pm... not gonna help with my early start tomorrow morning!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

New running gear is nice. I don't tend to run with a bag, but I can see it needs to fit well and have things to hand.

I hope work is not too bad. I have a few more days off.
