Description from Strava: Well it wasn't blue skies to begin with. Early this morning we had dreary gloomy fog to contend with. My partner and I had initially planned to go out somewhere more interesting today, she decided it would be more important to crack on with some of her university assignments in preparation for starting the 2nd semester next week.
I still fancied a walk to stretch my legs, and so I headed into town:
It wasn't a walk just for the sake of it, i did need to pick up some bits and pieces. The most important thing was picking up a new (well, second-hand) camera for my partner. Her course is photography/filmography related, and I realized it would be beneficial for her to have a second camera to use, as it means she can take 2 cameras with 2 different lenses, and not have to waste time continually swapping the lenses over
I found out last night that the local camera shop had a second-hand Canon 80D (same as her other camera) available for a very reasonable price, and so I rooted around for some spare change and picked it up today.
I also picked up an assortment of other things such as new 2025 calendar for the office (better late than never) and some new music:
new music was 2 CD's, 1st was The Black Parade by the chart-bothering Emo band My Chemical Romance
The 2nd is some Doom metal from Pallbearer - Mind Burns Alive
Both very different, but both on sale for half price so that'll do nicely!
After the shopping, I then walked all the way home again. 7 miles in total in 3 hours is pretty reasonable (includes time spent in shops browsing of course). I definitely don't walk enough these days!
Once home, I got some lunch (tomato soup and some nice crusty bread to dip in it), and then it was time to head out again.
I've got very bored of running around the village, and up and down the bypass, so needed to find somewhere a little different. Now the ice has gone, my options have opened up again, and I chose to run a loop around Branston today
Most of the route is along muddy but quiet farm tracks, with a brief meander through the village of Branston. It was a little slippy in places due to the mud, but an easy enough run nonetheless
I say 'easy', it felt easy to me even though my watch is still telling me that my training is 'unproductive'... nevermind, I'll keep going and I'm sure the watch will change it's mind at some point!
Compared to the misty fog this morning, it was a much brighter afternoon, we actually saw sun, and lovely blue skies... it was unexpectedly warm too with a 'tropical' 10C, I was wearing a coat on my run, and 15 minutes into it I realized that was a mistake lol!
Tomorrow we will be visiting my partners parents for part 2 of the games session that took place over xmas. It'll be a chance for her family to see each other before she heads back to uni for 3 months. On Friday we'll try again to go out and explore somewhere, and then on Saturday I will be hoping to go to parkrun after it was cancelled last week. Fingers crossed on that one, although the forecast is for 3C and no snow or rain, so we should be safe this time around!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

Any big races or events planned for this year!
!BEER
I wouldn't say big, but there are 2 races booked 'so far'
1st is in April and is my 'local 10k'... its been years since I last ran it, so looking forward to a nice day out and enjoying the occasion (not trying for a fast time as my training has been so hit-and-miss recently)
2nd is a half-marathon in October, and is one I will be trying harder on. I've never raced the half-marathon distance, so will be an opportunity to really go for it and see what I can get. (my current PB is 1 hour 57, but thats just during training runs, not really pushed it at that distance before)
I do want to find another event for the Summer (jun-jul time) but not found anything suitable yet.
Are you going to enter any this year? I know your training has been just as chaotic as mine recently... but having an event to aim for can help, and we can still enjoy them as fun events
maybe you can join @consciouscat in one of her obstacle courses?
My running niggles are my obstacle course !LOL Just parkrun for me on the plan so far. I just want to get my times back to where I would like them to be before adding other events.
