@dannewton just finished a 8.05km run, that lasted for 50 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 691.0 calories.

Description from Strava: It is the weekend again, although to be fair it doesn't really feel like one. I think thats due to the disjointed nature of the past 3 weeks, what with xmas and New Year and the various days off they created.

But I'm not at work, and thats always a good thing, regardless of how odd it feels. And Saturday is also parkrun day, so today should've been my chance to get the ball rolling on one of my 'resolutions' to do at least 1 parkrun in each calendar month.

And once again I made excuses to avoid it. The reason this time, was freezing icy conditions. We are in for a weekend full of snow and ice, although most of that is due to appear later on (the worst time will be Saturday night through to Sunday lunchtime).

I wasn't sure how icy it was going to be, but decided at the last minute that it wasn't worth the risk (regardless of how small that risk might have been!).

Instead I got up and did some chores around the house. We then went into town to do some shopping, and to spend the money we received recently from my Dad, and also from my partners parents. We wanted it to go for something useful, that we wouldn't necessarily be able to afford normally, and after a bit of thought, we decided to replace our fridge freezer.

Our current one is second hand, and we've owned it for 11 years ourselves, let alone what the previous owner had it for. While it still technically works, it is 'past its best' with a the inside light broken, and damage to the drawer runners. Its also on the small side, and we have been wanting a bigger (ie 'taller') one for a while now

We tried looking online, and it was really hard to get an idea of what they looked like, so we headed into town today to look at them properly. The shop, Currys, had loads to choose from, but we only have a small house and an even smaller kitchen, so are very much limited in terms of size. When we checked the measurements, there were only 3 to choose from... 1st was super expensive, 2nd was the same size (height) as out current one, so seemed pointless to buy as it wasn't an upgrade.

Fortunately the 3rd one was 'just right', so that is the one we bought!

I did need to dip into our savings as we didn't have quite enough money, but all sorted now. The shop assistant asked when we would like it delivered, and advised that they could do tomorrow. I replied that would be great as I know I'm at home so can wait all day if needed.

It was only after I arrived home that I remembered the slew of weather warnings for ice, rain and snow all across the country

Will keep my fingers crossed it manages to turn up!

Once we arrived back home, I decided the paths were clear enough to go out for a small run. I kept it local with a couple of loops around the village and managed to survive without any issue. It was chuffing cold though, and I had coat, hat AND gloves to keep myself warm enough.

I was still in shorts though, so it can't have been that cold at least haha

I'm now writing this post on Saturday evening. Its not started snowing yet, but I'm sure it will soon. With all those warnings, no one is really sure which places will get what, but I've brought the snow shovel out of the shed in preparation in case we get snow.

Eagle-eyed readers will notice my Trail Running Shoes in the pic above, if there is indeed snow first thing tomorrow, I can promise you I will be out running in it and enjoying it as much as I can!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
