Well, despite not being the only one who thought this, we lived as if nothing, unconcerned that something like what we are experiencing could happen. If it ever had to happen, perhaps we would see it further away, at least not in 2020. I remember being in several European cities, crowded with people, at the end of 2019. None of the virus was heard yet. I was happy and my head was full of plans. I was thinking of traveling and going to the theater to see various musical performances. I saw the theater billboard and did not think about it, I took tickets for "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky that would be performed by the Russian National Ballet, under the direction of Sergei Radchenko. That was the last show I would attend so far, although at that time I had planned to attend several more, but then the pandemic broke out and the confinements and closures of theaters, cinemas and other venues came. Therefore, today I want to tell you about this masterpiece that for me was a very special experience and the last one I had of this genre just before the Covid.

(ES) Año 2019. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general de la OMS, advertía de que la amenaza de una pandemia de gripe estaba presente. “La cuestión no es saber si habrá una nueva pandemia de gripe, sino cuándo ocurrirá”, decía entonces Adhanom.
Pues bien, pese a no ser el único que opinaba ésto, viviamos como si nada, despreocupados de que algo como lo que estamos viviendo pudiera pasar. Si alguna vez debía de pasar, quizás lo veíamos más lejano, al menos no en 2020. Recuerdo estar en varias ciudades europeas, a rebosar de gente, a finales de 2019. Nada del virus se escuchaba aún. Yo me sentía feliz y tenía la cabeza llena de planes. Pensaba en viajar y en ir al teatro a ver varias actuaciones musicales. Vi la cartelera del teatro y no me lo pensé, tomé entradas para "El Lago de los cisnes" de Chaikovski que interpretaría el Ballet Nacional Ruso, bajo la dirección de Sergei Radchenko. Aquel fue el último espectáculo al que asistiría hasta ahora, aunque yo en aquel momento tenía pensado asistir a varios más, pero entonces, se desató la pandemia y vinieron los confinamientos y los cierres de teatros, cines y demás locales. Por eso, hoy quiero hablaros de esta obra maestra que para mí fue una experiencia muy especial y la última que viví de este género justo antes del Covid.

(EN) What can I tell you about that night? That it was magical and I enjoyed it like a child. Tchaikovsky's music couldn't be more beautiful and I was fascinated by the ballerinas and dancers for their professionalism. Most of all, I loved the Wizard who danced to the beat of beautiful music masterfully and with impressive ease. I was excited throughout the performance. I hope you enjoy this wonderful performance as I do!

The play is divided into four acts:

1st] In a castle garden, Prince Siegfried celebrates his 21st birthday with his court friends and other guests. The queen, Siegfried's mother, reminds him that the following night he must, during his official birthday party, choose a wife. Girls of marriageable age, the most beautiful in the region, are invited to the party. The prince will have to choose one of them as his future wife. This changes Siegfried's mood and makes him sad and melancholic. The jester tries to restore the happy spirit that was there before the news of the queen and encourages the prince by preparing a hunting party with his friends.

2nd] In the forest near the lake, swans come out of the water and turn into beautiful young women. Siegfried reaches the lake and aims his crossbow at the young swans when the young queen, Odette, enters the scene. She tells him that the evil wizard, Rothbart, turned them into swan and that they return to their human form only at night and that the spell can only be undone by who swears eternal love. The two fall in love quickly. When Siegfried goes to swear eternal love to Odette, Rothbart appears, who makes the young women turn into swans again, so that the prince does not break the spell. Odette walks away turned into a swan.

3rd] The day of the celebration of the party in the castle arrives. The Queen Mother enters with Siegfried and the celebration begins. The marriageable girls appear and the queen asks Siegfried to choose his wife. He thinks of Odette and refuses to choose his wife. Only Odette occupies her heart. His mother is mad at him. At that moment the master of ceremonies announces the arrival of an unknown nobleman and his daughter. It is Baron Rothbart who arrives at the party with his daughter Odile. Siegfried notices that the girl is extraordinarily beautiful and stares at her. He wears pure black, but he is the spitting image of Odette. They hide a dark plan, trick the prince and break his promise to Odette that she will never love another.
The queen now hopes that her son will be espoused by a young noblewoman.
Odile manages to fall in love with Siegfried and he thinks that she is Odette. As the pair dance, she spots Odette in the distance and signals to Siegfried, who apparently doesn't see her. The prince then asks Von Rothbart for Odile's hand, and Von Rothbart quickly gives him her consent. At that moment there is a loud thunder. The room goes dark. Van Rothbart and Odile triumph over the prince and his Machiavellian plan is revealed. Siegfried cannot bear their cruel laughter. Then, in the distance he gets to see the silhouette of Odette. She desperately searches for him between sobs. Siegfried falls to the ground, broken in pain at his mistake.

4th] The swan maidens have gathered on the shore of the lake. When Odette appears crying, they try to comfort her. They try to convince her that it is possible that Siegfried did not know of her spell and was not suspicious of Rothbart's plan on her. Siegfried frantically searches for Odette among the swans. He takes her in her arms, asks her forgiveness and swears eternal love. Odette forgives him but tells him that it is useless for her now, since her forgiveness corresponds to her death. When Von Rothbart appears, Siegfried challenges him, who after the fight is overcome by the force of the prince's love for Odette and the spell is undone.

(ES)¿Qué puedo deciros de aquella noche? Que fue mágica y disfruté como una niña. La música de Chaikovski no puede ser más hermosa y me fascinaron las bailarinas y bailarines por su profesionalidad. Sobretodo, me encantó el Mago que bailaba al ritmo de la bellísima música de forma magistral y con una soltura impresionante. Estuve toda la obra emocionada. ¡Espero que vosotros disfrutéis como yo de esta actuación tan maravillosa!

La obra se divide en cuatro actos:

1°] En un jardín del castillo, el príncipe Sigfrido, celebra con sus amigos de la corte y demás invitados, su 21° cumpleaños. La Reina, madre de Sigfrido, le recuerda a su hijo que la próxima noche deberá, durante su fiesta oficial de cumpleaños, escoger esposa. A la fiesta están invitadas muchachas en edad casadera, las más hermosas de la comarca. El príncipe tendrá que elegir a una de ellas como futura esposa. Ésto cambia el ánimo de Sigfrido, tornándolo en triste y melancólico. El Bufón intenta restaurar el feliz espíritu previo a la noticia de la Reina y anima al príncipe preparando una partida de caza con sus amigos.

2°] En el bosque, cerca del lago, salen del agua unos cisnes que se transforman en bellas jóvenes. Sigfrido llega al lago y apunta con su ballesta hacia las jóvenes-cisnes cuando entra en escena la joven reina, Odette. Ella le cuenta que el malvado mago, Rothbart, las convirtió en cisne y que vuelven a su forma humana solamente de noche y que el hechizo solo puede deshacerlo quien le jure amor eterno. Los dos se enamoran rápidamente. Cuando Sigfrido va a jurarle amor eterno a Odette aparece Rothbart, quien hace que las jóvenes vuelvan a convertirse de nuevo en cisnes, para que el príncipe no rompa el hechizo. Odette se aleja convertida en cisne.

3°] Llega el día de la celebración de la fiesta en el castillo. Entra la reina madre junto a Sigfrido y se da comienzo al festejo. Se presentan las jóvenes casaderas y la reina le pide a Sigfrido que elija esposa. Él piensa en Odette y se niega a escoger esposa. Sólo Odette ocupa su corazón. Su madre se enfada con él. En ese momento el maestro de ceremonias anuncia la llegada de un noble desconocido y su hija. Es el barón Rothbart que llega a la fiesta con su hija Odile. Sigfrido se da cuenta de que la muchacha es de extraordinaria belleza y la mira fijamente. Viste de riguroso negro, pero es la viva imagen de Odette. Van Rothbart y Odile se muestran en actitud triunfante ante el príncipe y queda revelado su maquiavélico plan. Sigfrido no puede soportar sus risas crueles. Entonces, en la distancia consigue ver la silueta de Odette. Ella le busca desesperada entre sollozos. Sigfrido cae al suelo roto de dolor por su error.

4°] Las doncellas cisne se han reunido a la orilla del lago. Cuando Odette aparece llorando, intentan consolarla.
