Ghost: A fresh way to make rock [(ENG)-(ESP)]

Ghost is a hard-rock and doom-metal band from Sweden, created by Tobias Forge, being active since 2010. Their particular sound made them worthy of multiple awards and recognition by great artists such as James Hetfield who even le He was seen wearing a band flannel.

Tobias worked for years creating a perfect formula to create a dark show but without reaching the extreme sound typical of Nordic bands. The sound of Ghost is much lighter but without ceasing to offer that dark and dense atmosphere, with lyrics that propose a rebellious and dark feeling.

Ghost es una banda de hard-rock y doom-metal proveniente de Suecia, creada por Tobias Forge, estando activos desde el 2010. Su particular sonido les hizo merecedores de múltiples premios y del reconocimiento por parte de grandes artistas como James Hetfield quien hasta le fue visto usando una franela de la banda.

Tobias trabajo por años creando una fórmula perfecta para crear un espectáculo oscuro pero sin llegar al sonido extremo típico de bandas nórdicas. El sonido de Ghost es mucho más ligero pero sin dejar de ofrecer esa atmosfera oscura y densa, con unas letras que proponen un sentimiento rebelde y oscuro.

There is a lot of rock n roll in this band and influences from 80's bands that together with the presence they give in the live shows make Ghost a unique band but before everything became fame and tours for the band Tobias had to work hard while his wife got pregnant with two babies. The project was halted when it was about to be born but that did not stop Tobias from writing more songs and preparing ideas for the band.

Soon Tobias uploaded some songs on the defunct myspace and got a lot of positive reviews but just when that happened his brother died and he had a bittersweet feeling at the time. Forge continued making songs and told himself that all that work would be dedicated to his brother.

Hay mucho de rock n roll en esta banda e influencias de bandas de los 80’s eso aunado a la presencia que dan en los directos hacen de Ghost una banda única pero antes de que todo se volviese fama y giras para la banda Tobias tuvo que trabajar duro mientras su esposa quedo encinta con dos bebes. El proyecto fue paralizado cuando estaba por nacer pero eso no detuvo a Tobias de escribir más canciones y preparar ideas para la banda.

Pronto Tobias subió unas canciones en la difunta myspace y tuvo muchas críticas positivas pero justo cuando eso sucedió su hermano murió y tuvo una sensación agridulce en ese momento. Forge, continuo haciendo canciones y se dijo a si mismo que todo ese trabajo seria dedicado a su hermano.

Ghost's first album is released in 2010 called Opus Eponymous, thus creating the characteristic atmosphere of the band and especially its image. Pope Emeritus I took over the band, that is Tobias Forge's alter ego. Its imposing image began to spread through the networks and its more accessible sound made the band spread to many more places.

El primer álbum de Ghost es lanzado en el 2010 llamado Opus Eponymous, creando así la atmosfera característica de la banda y en especial su imagen. El papa Emeritus I se hizo cargo de la banda, es decir el alter ego de Tobias Forge. Su imponente imagen empezó a difundirse por las redes y su sonido más accesible hizo que la banda se esparciera por muchos más lugares.

Success was almost assured and it was time to release his second album called Infestisshuman. The intro song on this album features spectacular chorales quickly giving way to the song Per Aspera ad Inferi. The band's sound was even more refined on this album, the lyrics even more provocative and the songs catchier. Personally, this is my favorite album of the band because here the sound that they would later use was defined, that is, here it was completely defined what Ghost is.

El éxito ya casi estaba asegurado y fue el turno de lanzar su segundo álbum llamado Infestisshuman. La canción de introducción de este disco cuenta con unas corales espectaculares dando rápidamente paso a la canción Per Aspera ad Inferi. El sonido de la banda fue aún más refinado en este álbum, las letras aún más provocadoras y las canciones más pegajosas. En lo personal este es mi álbum favorito de la banda porque aquí se definió el sonido que posteriormente usarían, es decir aquí se definió completamente lo que es Ghost.

With their third album Meliora, released in 2015, the band was already an international success and is on the lips of people who were not even on the scene. Everyone was talking about Ghost, his particular sound and his sinister image. Videos like Cirice increased the popularity of the group reaching to play in the biggest rock and metal festivals in the world, in a nutshell Ghost became a mainstream band.

Of course they had criticism from the more conservative metalheads who said that their sound was not authentic heavy-metal, being very light, however that is precisely the point of Ghost, creating a dark but soft atmosphere and with a provocative and shocking image.

Ya con su tercer álbum Meliora, lanzado en el 2015 ya la banda era un éxito internacional y está en la boca de personas que ni siquiera estaban en la escena. Todo el mundo hablaba de Ghost, de su sonido particular y de su imagen siniestra. Videos como Cirice aumentaron la popularidad del grupo alcanzando a tocar en los más grandes festivales del rock y metal del mundo, en pocas palabras Ghost se convirtió en una banda mainstream.

Por supuesto tuvieron críticas por parte de los metaleros más conservadores que decían que su sonido no era autentico heavy-metal, siendo muy ligero, sin embargo ese es precisamente el punto de Ghost, creando una atmosfera oscura pero suave y con una imagen provocadora e impactante.

It has been a long time since a band was seen in the mainstream scene due to new trends with hip-hop roots and also due to the excess of bands in the market but Ghost managed to create a space in the global music scene creating music that While it may be for the masses, it also has a much deeper meaning than what can be appreciated in these times as did bands like Metallica, AC / DC, Pink Floyd and many others.

Ghost is definitely a milestone of our time that I manage to recover the hard blow that rock bands have had in these times. This is a band that thanks to its presence and its fresh sound achieved what many bands dream of, appearing in the best festivals and having a considerable amount of fans. I look forward to bands of this type continuing to appear, breaking out of the canyons and paradigms that exist today, creating music with true meaning and message, in short, genuine and authentic artists, for real artistic purposes.

Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que no se veía una banda en el panorama mainstream debido a las nuevas tendencias con raíces hip-hop y también por el exceso de bandas en el mercado pero Ghost logro crearse un espacio en el panorama musical global creando una musica que si bien puede ser para las masas también tiene un significado mucho más profundo de lo que se puede apreciar en estos tiempos así como lo hicieron bandas como Metallica, AC/DC, Pink Floyd y muchas otras.

Ghost en definitiva es un hito de nuestro tiempo que logro recuperar el duro golpe que han tenido las bandas de rock en estos tiempos. Esta es una banda que gracias a su presencia y su sonido fresco logro lo que muchas bandas sueñan, aparecer en los mejores festivales y tener una cantidad considerable de fans. Espero con ansias que sigan apareciendo bandas de este tipo, que rompan con los cañones y paradigmas que existen hoy en día, creando música con un verdadero significado y mensaje, en pocas palabras, artistas genuinos y auténticos, con fines artísticos reales.
