I've been gone for a while, and I'm not quite sure I understand what you're getting at.
Are you saying that the first 20 hive from each vote is somehow not going to the author of the post voted on?
I've been told that it might be closer to 16hive, but yes, absolutely.
They have been taking this value from us since the hardfork that brought in the eip.
The votes are reduced in value exponentially the farther they are from 16hive.
If you vote on a post or comment, and it doesn't reach ~4.88hbd, it gets reduced more the farther away it misses.
So, if your post gets 1hbd in payout, all the value you would have had goes mostly to the top, instead.
Would the post have been 2hbd absent the penalty?@acidyo, do you know how much the reduction is on a 1hbd payout?
I guess I'll just have to see how it works if/when I get some payouts.
Where does the vote value go if not to the OP? Are you saying the curation rewards are out of whack essentially?
You shouldn't notice, it just won't be there.
I doubt anybody, outside a few coders, actually know how much the impact is at the various payouts.
It's not something you would think about very often.
Outside my having remembered it from the eip, it would have been down the memory hole and nobody would have known the difference.
Except a few folks, and which way that would break is a toss up.
If you want to make sure that your stake counts as much as a rich person's stake, you need to get in the discords listed in my posts and register your displeasure at this revelation.
You won't see me in the discords.
I hear discord is run/was founded by pedophiles, and I don't want to get involved.
Hopefully this issue doesn't ruin the experience for people I've recently onboarded.

I don't really use the open hive chat, but do read it sporadically on its discord bridge.
If you want a link to hive's open chat, I can probably find one.
If voices in the community don't express their viewpoints we all have less data to work with.
Not optimal, imo.
It's cool that a chat was finally implemented, I had been groaning about the unused memo keys for some time. Hopefully encryption is implemented.
I may try it out, but it's saying something about needing to sign in a different way right now so I'm putting it off.
