Plant Based Meat and Cultured Meat, The Future of Meat Production

"We shall escape the absurdity of growing a whole chicken in order to eat the breast or wing, but growing these parts separately under a suitable medium" - Winston Churchill

Meat scarcity is something that have been discussed more frequently in some countries especially in the US and I can say that this is due to civilization (but I do not think in Africa, there is much of this problem about meat but certainly there will be a time when there will be scarcity of meat globally).

If you are to calculate the total resources needed to produce 1kg of Beef, you will realize that it is huge, it takes about 6.5KG of crops and plants, 15,000 liters of water and enough time to rear them to become big which is about 1.5 years and this becomes very evident in ranches unlike in Africa where Nomads move from one point to another with their cattle to graze. Animal farming cost water, crop death, greenhouse gas, and it also affects human's health.

A lot of people love meat and can't do without it especially in countries like China where animal is really prepared as meal so how do we solve the meat problem, "Plant". In the future, Beef, Pork, Chicken, and so on will not come from animal but rather from plant.

Plant based meet are the first type of meat that can be gotten from plants and companies like the Meet impossible foods responsible for the production of impossible burger which is plant based meat. The other type of meat without animal is the cultured meat where stem cells of animals and cultured in a medium adding all necessities to nutrients available.

Conclusion

The future of meat is going to be without animals as cost of production is getting higher and technology is increasing. Although third world countries where nomadic life occur with cattle rearing, it might take a while before it becomes visible that meat scarcity is a big problem but surely they would have to switch to plant based or cultured meat.
