An Africa of 2030 would be a collective of nations gearing towards the 2063 AU aspirations which include Africans having a strong cultural identity, values, and ethics. Africans driving their development with their innate potentials.
Taking a cue from Leonidas Nzigiyimpa who has been able to rehabilitate forests, protect rare species of animals and empower communities bordering these forest reserves, I am really excited by the many forms in which management of natural resources can help the African people in shaping our development through proper maintenance of our resources and infrastructures.
Management of natural resources has an integral impact on the provision of jobs. With proper management of natural resources, there is the availability of these resources to suffice for the equivalent human needs. Thereby creating employment opportunities ranging from Extension Agent, Environmental Consultant, Environmental Policy Analyst, Forester, Fisheries Manager, GIS Expert, Land Use Planner, Natural Resources Educator, Natural Resources Manager, Recreation Resource Manager, Wildlife Habitat Specialist, Water Conflict Manager, etc.
In solving the challenge of job creation effective management of resources would provide openings for the aforementioned employment opportunities by ensuring detailed information of the impact and need for sustained maintenance of the ecosystem making use of a trustworthy record system. A blockchain-based system would enable effective and trustworthy documentation of records. A blockchain is a distributed and decentralized ledger that is cryptographically stored across computers. Data generated by the study and research of available resources can be effectively stored on this system and verified by the individuals on the ground, this system prevents the information from being adjusted without verification from all individuals involved thereby building trust. This would help the government to effectively forecast the number of jobs and viability of the industry, while also ensuring trustworthy transactions and appropriation of funds to help in achieving this goal.
