A great thing about the Hive blockchain is that you have a second layer infrastructure that allows you not only to post on Hive but also on many of the second layer tribe interfaces.
In order to show on these tribe interfaces, the only thing you have to do is to add the according tag to your posts.
Earn LEO just by adding the correct tag
If you add the tag #leofinance for example, your post will be visible on the front end leofinance.io. This makes your post visible for all the people that use this front-end. In addition to that, your post will also qualify to get a post reward in the token LEO. This means that your post will earn Hive and Leo.
LEO is probably the leader among the Hive-Engine tribes at the moment. However, it is not alone. There are plenty of different tribes that you can use for your posts. By adding the tags of these tribes, your post will show on each of their front-end and it will be able to earn the token.
Adding tags will increase visibility and payout
With every tag of a Hive-Engine tribe that you add to your post, it will show on the according front-end. Your post will have a better visibility thanks to that.
If you structure your tags well, your post can earn author rewards in several different currencies in addition to Hive.
What you should also keep in mind is that several tribes have kind of bigger accounts that try to encourage you to post within the tribe. Using certain tags can allow you to get upvotes of these accounts.
Avoid tag abuse
It is important to remember however that each tribe might have some guidelines of what is acceptable as content. If you spam tags on your posts, you might get some downvotes. Try to use only the tags that are related to the content of your post.

Stake and grow
In order to get the maximum of these tags, it's a good idea to stake these tokens and increase your voting power with them. Like with hive, these tokens also provide curation rewards. You can earn while posting and curating.

A lot of people are not aware about the tags and they believe that they can just use them all at once. As you said it's a good idea to get interested in these communities, stake the token and interact with people.

ENGAGEtokens.Another token/tribe I see a lot is CCC (Creative Coin) for all things creative. However, I have noticed that their URL has been giving an error message lately. On the bright side, you can still earn the coins if you add the CREATIVECOIN tag and/or have it staked. Have you heard whether this token is going away of it they are just having condenser problems?
I had the same experience with CCC and I don't know if the token actually works when the website is down. That's why I haven't added it to the list.

ENGAGEtokens.Hive is a place with many niches to blog in ;) Tribe offer you general visibility and tokens, communities dedicated to hobbies etc. give you more visibility in that community. Be it STEM, insects or needlework - find the right communities for you. More people will read your posts, most post there should be of interest to you and thus fun to read.
And the secret ingredient for success: comments - which especially work in communities :)
This is really the one ingredient that people tend to forget. In the end it's all about exchanging with likeminded people and the commenting is what brings people together.

Thanks for stopping by. Always a big pleasure to see this .gif under the post :-). I went through the different front ends and often it's not even written on the front end what is acceptable content or not. I believe that for newbies it can be a bit difficult to know where they can use the tags. I'm however also against tag farming. A post can't be at the same time leofinance, spt and build-it. I honestly don't know what content would qualify to be in all of them :-)

ENGAGEtokens.Proper tag use is so important as we create content on the blockchain in general. If used correctly, we can make a nice amount of tokens per post. :)
I will use the front end directly on Leo Finance as well as CTP Talk. I have created a curating "system" so I will switch from one to the other as I see fit. It seems to work pretty well & I noticed a difference in the amount of tokens I earn each day! (Not to mention the awesome CTSB! ;) )
I appreciate you covering the specific major ones as well as the tag abuse issue that happens sometimes. Unfortunately, a lot of newer Hive owners tend to overuse tags, because they weren't taught how to use them so they go overboard. You pretty much covered it all! :)

Hey, sweetie - sorry for my horribly late response. The past two days have been nuts lol....
I don't have a super complicated way of doing it, but I basically look at the end of people's blogs to see where they posted it from (i.e. LeoFinance, Natural Medicine, CTP Talk, etc) & click on it to comment from there. I admit, sometimes it takes more time & I don't do this 100%, but when time DOES allow, it helps.
I do it more with just CTP & LeoFinance tbh because otherwise, I would be here all day. LOL. It's just a simple way of ensuring the token amount. It's a tiny bit extra, but hey, every little bit counts. I am trying this "strategy" out to see how it turns out :)

ENGAGEtokens.I think like we should have an easier way to filter which tribes are right for which content. For me (as a not-heavy-user) it's pretty hard to keep the overview about this. So most times I chose topic related tags like (for a post about ledger) - wallet;cryptocurrency;security - which won't be visible for many ppl I guess. Next to that there are several tags displayed (if posting on leofinance.io as example) which leads to me picking this tags since it looks like a suggestion. Maybe we could have something that can identify relevant tags based on the content and suggest them directly when creating a post.
