😊HEY THERE! THIS IS MY ENTRY TO LET'S MAKE A COLLAGE #115

📍This marks my ninth entry to the @lmac contest and the ninth for this year 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣

I titled this collage 🌆THE WEEKEND SUNSET🌆 to tell the story of a lovely couple spending their weekend together in their wood cabin far away.

The two sat in silence with their rescue dog colt, staring at the spectacle, the blazing ball of the sun fading as light threw shadows of tangerine and red amid the clearing's tall pine trees. The air buzzed quietly, bringing with it the damp scent of the oncoming night.

Mike broke the fragile silence by drawing Karen closer and allowing her to rest her head on his shoulders, close to his heart.

Smell that?

he said, inhaling deeply the sweet woody air.

That is the scent of freedom. Can you think of anything more worth fighting for?

There’s something relaxing about damp earth combined with old wood. Then there are the trees. You know, every tree has its own unique smell too. Some can have a sweet smell while others are almost sour, but they're all good.

Mike and Karen have been married for 15 years but have yet to have children. This has disturbed Karen alot, but Mike has never stopped reminding her of his unwavering love and faith.

It's the weekend, and there's never been a more perfect time for them to return to their old wood cabin. It's a special place for them, seated in their favorite spot, and it's exactly where Mike proposed to Karen.

They breathe a sigh of relief as they listen to the ripple and sense what it smells like and what it tells them.

How lovely is the sound of running water?

Mike asked.
A lively forest brook, a whole separate universe that lives just next to you, allowing your mind to rest and become stronger.

Karen thinks about Mike's question and replies,

I wonder what lives and happens beneath the water's surface?

The water has a bright and fresh scent with the ducks playing. It is full of energy that you can easily absorb..

Karen then asked Mike, as they sat there, inspired by nature and enjoying each other's company:

How Did you know that I was the One?

Oh I don't know if you're!

Mike humorously answers. Karen startled,

What do you mean? what does that mean? are you having double thoughts?

scared, believing her marriage was in trouble, Mike swiftly calms her down and goes on to say:

Oh no, Honey! You already know how I feel about that. I adore you, but, I think this notion of the one does people a disservice. It gives folks the idea that all you have to do is meet the one and then it's smooth sailing forever.
People buy into that and then when things get rough, and there's always a point when things get rough, It makes it too easy to bail and look for "THE ONE" somewhere else.

Karen relieved & loving the reassurance says,

*Go on, keep talking. Why did you chose me and not "oh my, ain't I just fruity?" *

as she imitates Mike's long ago ex-girlfriend, Susan

Mike giggles and says,

Well, you did check off alot of boxes for me. You're Beautiful, bright, thoughtful and always good for a laugh. But I didn't go for you thinking 'Oh she's definitely THE ONE' Because I think that Love is a choice. It's a choice we must make on a continual basis.

Karen raises her head, looks fondly at Mike as he kisses her on the forehead, and they both turn to face the sunset. Its rays appear friendly, as if it were an old friend waving goodbye. You are aware that they are leaving, yet you are confident that you will see them again.
