Runde 157 des LMAC-Contests ist zwar vorüber, doch bei LMAC heißt es "Nach der Runde ist vor der Runde". Und zudem gibt es gerade jetzt, am Ende einer Runde, ganz besonders viele tolle Collagen in der Let's make a Collage Community zu bewundern.

About my collage
Actually, the source of my inspiration for this collage, was not that spectacular. It rather prompted me to think deeply about an unfortunate development that I have witnessed lately.
It's about "virtual escape." An escape from this real world, into the excessive, completely virtual world of media and digital entertainment.
Since I rarely use my TV, only turn it on to mirror a computer screen on it or to play a DVD on it, I often had to notice how many of my friends and associates are captivated by this device and their other digital entertainment devices.
I even know a whole family whose members are all so hopelessly addicted to their TV and computer games that even their garden and house have to suffer. They all have trouble getting off their butts to get things done in the real world.
At every opportunity, whether in the morning before work/school at the breakfast table, or after work/school, they are always sitting in front of one of these entertainment machines.
It's been half an eternity since my wife and I have spent any time doing anything with this family. And whenever we visited them at their home, the TV was running anyway, and it continued to be the center of all attention.
Well, now I still failed to reveal how exactly I got to the topic of my collage...
Currently a German TV channel is broadcasting a show called "Dschungel-Camp". This show is very popular in my social environment. So many conversations of people I know are related to it. It's a topic of conversation where I'm not able to contribute anything at all.
Just yesterday I was exposed to this topic in a round of talks and now, unfortunately, I know everything about the personal sensitivities of TV starlets completely unknown to me. Not exciting, more frustrating.
Then in the evening I sat in front of my computer to see what was going on in LMAC and so I came across @shaka's beautifull template photo for round 157 again. It gave me a little moment to rest my mind and to enjoy the beautiful view in the photo.
Because I go hiking quite often, such beautiful scenes are not unknown to me. It made me think about the people in my environment who are so addicted to virtual entertainment, and that many of them only know such things from their flicker boxes.
This one thought then led to the other. The inspiration was born. :-D
Über meine Collage
Die Quelle meiner Inspiration für diese Collage, war eigentlich gar nicht so spektakulär. Es war vielmehr Anlass, mir intensive Gedanken über eine bedauerliche Entwicklung zu machen, derer ich in letzter Zeit Zeuge wurde.
Es geht um die "Virtuelle Flucht". Eine Flucht aus dieser realen Welt, in die exzessive, völlig virtuelle Welt der medialen und digitalen Unterhaltung.
Da ich so gut wie nie meinen Fernsehapparat verwende, ihn nur einschalte um einen Computer-Bildschirm darauf zu spiegeln oder gezielt darauf eine DVD abspielen lasse, fällt mir eben häufig auf, wie gefesselt viele meiner Mitmenschen aus dem Freundes und Bekanntenkreis von diesem Gerät und ihren anderen digitalen Unterhaltungsgeräten sind.
Ich kenne sogar eine ganze Familie, deren Mitglieder allesamt derart heillos süchtig nach ihrem Fernseher und ihren Computerspielen sind, dass darunter sogar Garten und Haus zu leiden haben. Sie bekommen alle ihren Hintern nicht mehr so richtig hoch, um in der realen Welt Dinge anzupacken.
Bei jeder Gelegenheit, egal ob morgens vor der Arbeit/Schule am Frühstückstisch, oder nach der Arbeit/Schule, sie sitzen immer vor einer dieser Berieselungsmedien.
Es ist schon eine halbe Ewigkeit her, seit meine Frau und ich etwas mit dieser Familie unternommen haben. Und immer wenn wir sie zuhause besuchten, lief sowieso der Fernsehapparat und dieser war dann auch weiterhin der Mittelpunkt des Geschehens.
Naja, jetzt habe ich immer noch nicht verraten, wie ich nun genau zum Thema meiner Collage gekommen bin...
Zur Zeit läuft im deutschen Fernsehprogamm scheinbar eine Sendung namens "Dschungel-Camp". Diese Sendung wird in meinem sozialen Umfeld sehr stark konsumiert, wodurch sich viele Unterhaltungen von Leuten die ich kenne, darauf beziehen. Ein Gesprächsthema, bei dem ich rein gar nichts beizutragen habe.
Erst gestern war ich in einer Gesprächsrunde diesem Thema ausgesetzt und weiß nun leider alles über die persönlichen Befindlichkeiten von mir völlig unbekannten Fernsehsternchen. Nicht spannend, eher frustrierend.
Abends saß ich dann vor dem Rechner um in LMAC nach dem Rechten zu sehen und kam so auch an erneut @shaka's Vorlagenfoto für Runde #157 vorbei. Da ließ ich kurz meinen Geist rasten und genoss den schönen Ausblick im Foto.
Da ich recht häufig wandern gehe, sind mir solche schönen Szenen nicht unbekannt. Ich musste dann aber über die Süchtigen nach virtueller Unterhaltung in meinem Umfeld denken, und dass viele von denen so etwas nur noch aus ihren Flimmerkästen kennen.
Dieser eine Gedanke führte dann zum Anderen. Die Inspiration war geboren. :-D

These are the materials I have made use of to create my collage. Besides the images below, I also painted some details myself (shadows, lights, iron bars) and made completely new image elements from parts of these images (camel on two legs).
For the work on the collage I only used the opensource image editor GIMP.

Materialien
Dies sind die Materialien die ich zum Erstellen meiner Collage verwendet habe. Neben den unten aufgeführten Bildern, habe ich auch Details selbst gemalt (Schatten, Lichter, Gitterstäbe) und komplett Neues aus Teilen der Bilder gemacht (Kamel auf zwei Beinen).
Ich habe für die komplette Arbeit an der Collage, das opensource Bildbearbeitungsprogramm GIMP verwendet.

LMAC is a great community for artists of all skill levels. The name of the community is an abbreviation and stands for "Let's make a collage".
Just take a look. Even if you think you are not an artist, LMAC will probably prove you wrong.

They are prisoners of television, like zombies who do not pay attention to their surroundings. The message is clearly understood, it is a collage warning of the carelessness that can be caused by entertainment devices.
This one is a masterpiece. I reminds me of one you did maybe a year ago about hiking and trash on the trail. When something gets under your skin, you do 'talk' about it...at least through your art.
Very sad, very symbolic. The camel creature is quite amazing.

Masterpiece is a such great word - you wouldn't believe how much criticism I always have of my own works. It was hard to decide whether to publish this one or not. Your great words of praise, now gives it a much better feeling. xD
Actually, I am not too talkative. Although there are sometimes specific points I'd like to address. It then helps me to ease my worries when I talk about it creatively.
