RE:MY INTRODUCTORY POST

in OCD2 years ago
My name is Victor Okey-Ewurum. I am a Nigerian who is from Orji in Imo State which is in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria. I am really happy to be here and I am writing this post to introduce myself and to give some insight into the kind of person I am. I am the second child and first son of a family of six and I have three siblings; two sisters (one older, one younger) and a brother. My parents are both professionals in the medical line; my dad is a medical doctor and my mum is a pharmacist ( but I'm not the patient😄. My friends always add "and you're the patient" to my sentence whenever I tell them my dad is a doctor and my mum is a pharmacist) they both run a pharmacy in Nigeria by the name MENTOR HEALTH SERVICES.

My siblings are amazing people and I've always had a close relationship with them, even now that we all stay in different locations. My elder sister works in the US while my younger sister school in Canada and my younger brother (the last child) just got admission to a school in USA too. I, on the other hand, am schooling in my home country and am currently a student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where I study Political Science.

A PIC WITH MY COURSE MATES

I know it sounds a bit strange to hear that all my siblings school abroad and I do not, but I actually was the one who made the decision to remain in Nigeria. I chose to complete my education in Nigeria because unlike other people, I see alot of opportunities in the country plus Nigeria is a country that is yet to be fully explored and hence has a lot to offer when you are looking for a place to start and grow a brand of your own. I chose to school in Nigeria in order to better understand the system and get my hands on a few things that would help me to earn a good living and also be able to contribute my own quota to the development of the country. I also do not believe in running away from challenges. I believe Nigeria though in a deplorable and pathetic state now, can only be fixed by good Nigerians so if we all leave our land, who will fix and develop it for us.

I am a person who enjoys travelling and I have travelled to different countries such as the United States of America (Boston, New Jersey, New York, etc), United Arab Emirates (Dubai, etc) and a few other countries, and through my travels I have come to the conclusion that Nigeria is the best place for the path I am taking. As I stated above (in the third paragraph), I attend the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where I study Political Science; and I often get a lot of questions about my reason for choosing this as my course of study. Most times People ask me if I intend to become a future politician or if I was just looking for an easy way into the university as the political science course is not highly sought after in Nigerian universities and it's quite easy to get an admission offer for it. Most times in this country, if an individual applies to get admitted into a highly sought after faculty, like the Faculty of Law and does not get up to the required score, the individual is usually given the option of studying Political Science and so people also ask me a lot of times too, if I wanted to study law.
However, I chose to study Political Science because it is a wonderful course of study and it gives you the opportunity to express yourself in different dimensions. On graduation from the university, a political scientist has some degree of knowledge about a lot of other courses ranging from psychology to economics to administration and so on. A political scientist is a good administrator and a critical thinker who thinks outside the box as well as sees problems from other perspectives in the view of solving them. To be honest, I can keep going on about my reasons for choosing to study Political Science because there are quite a lot of them.

I am also addicted to music, especially musical instruments which I love a lot, and I play a few of them ranging from the keyboard (which is my absolute fave) to the recorder. In fact, I love musical instruments so much that it is safe to say that they're the key to my heart and this is because playing them or listening to someone play them has a way of soothing my nerves and calming me down. Playing instruments has also helped me to improve my social skills by a great bit as I get to meet and interact with a lot of wonderful people all the time.
I'm also a gamer, I love to play games. I have had different video games in my house and I play it with my younger brother. My favourite games are ; FIFA soccer game, NBA, GTA and WWE. I hear there is gaming community here on hive and I really can't wait to interact with my fellow gamers. I know it's really going to be a blast here.

I also like foods and like to cook. My parents are both good cooks, infact they also run a restaurant just in front of my house. I have learnt to make quite a lot of delicacies from them. My mum isn't always around and whenever she travels, I prepare the meals for my family.

FASTFOOD RUN BY MY PARENTS

I am a very fast learner (an instance of this was when I tried learning how to bake and was able to learn how to bake bread in just two months)and a highly versatile person as I consider versatility to be a very big part of my life and so I make it a point to be as adaptable as I can be in order to deal with any situation.

I currently work at a construction site for a supermarket as the supervisor, and through my knowledge of political science I am able to discharge my duties efficiently.

I got to know about HIVE and how it works from a friend turned brother @luckydrums who has been showing me the ropes and helping me to understand how the platform works. He has been really helpful and I really appreciate him for his efforts.
While I am here, I hope to improve my knowledge and learn as much as I can about everything (no knowledge is a waste), and I will be sharing posts concerning music (playing instruments), comedy, sports and so much more.
I hope I have been able to give some insight into the kind of person I am. Till the next time we meet, stay safe and Watch out for me. I will be coming with fire. 😉😉😉🔥🔥
