I'm guilty of multitasking and trying to juggle everything in my head or in my hands at its fullest. After a long weekend, it's time I get back to my regular routine so I'm not a total vegetable.
For more context, I am currently an online college student through my employer. I'm finishing up my bachelor's degree in psychology with Arizona State University.
During the first part of the state's quarantine, I took a break from both work and school to regroup and rest up to take on the challenges of balancing work, school, and parenting again! For the next month and a half, I will only be taking one math course so I can ease back into the school part as well as have better focus on this particular course. I have taken it once before and just barely made a passing grade. I bit off more than I could chew.
SCHOOL
As you can see, I am just starting back into Precalculus. I love math! I think it's fun but oftentimes one of the more interesting intellectual challenges for myself. The first module was optional so I skipped to the second one which covers Constant Rate of Change. This is generally a review but for those who haven't looked at math topics in a while, I am relearning how to model linear relationships on graphs and through equations. I am looking at the slope.
For anyone who needs help in teaching or learning these topics, I'm open to help. Basic algebra and the algebraic side of precalculus are my personal strengths in the World of Math. However, I may need help when it comes to the geometric part! 📐
FOOD
As of right now, I'm a single mom and I don't like for work or school to take my attention away from my child when she is in need. My mother taught me a very simple Amish bread recipe that I made before the sunset to have two loaves made for the week. It's incredibly simple, all of the ingredients (but the warm water) are pictured above!
Tonight I think we will have fresh bread with butter, corn on the cob, and rice with chickpea masala (my dad wants to add a nice side to dinner!).
YOGA
Ahh...yes. I like to lighten up any bit of the tension spots that prevent me from functioning at my best. Some yoga stretches here and there when my body is in one position for too long is required!
As I finish these highlighted parts to my day, I like to reflect that I don't want to put too much pressure on myself this time around. I do a lot for everyone but myself and that has put a damper on my self esteem. Do you notice when you slack on taking care of your basic needs, even your creative itches, that it can negatively affect your perspective?
I haven't taken care of myself as much as I have wanted, but managing my energy over my time has become much more effective in doing the things I want and need to do for myself and still contributing to my family, workplace, and now here: the Hive. :) Take care, all!
Energy/Time = creative & productive mindset

That's interesting but I was terrible at maths.
HaHah aww! Math has a lot of patterns and can be pretty abstract, or difficult to envision. But it's fascinating to make the connections from algebra to geometry and you wound up with calculus! It's more than just the tricky word problems or extended formulas.
Exactly.
Good work with the yoga. I'm not in love with math but I can do some algebra if I have to. When I was in college, I struggled a bit at times and part of that might be due to multitasking just like you do.
Hello again, Joey! :) It might have been due to multitasking. When we multitask we're not allowing our brains to properly absorb and transfer new information into our long-term memories. It's easier to forget. Do you still find yourself multitasking when you're learning/doing something new? Have you found a method that works best for you to better retain focus?
Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I multitask to save time and sometimes will focus on just one thing when it is very important. And focusing on one thing for a short period of time can help in a powerful way. But for longer periods of time, multitasking can help more. So, both approaches can help if you are able to go back and forth between different modes as needed. I write things down as I blog and I am even including this, what I am writing to you, in my blog. And that can help me remember. A variety of things can help with learning, memorizing, etc. But you never know what will stick. So, be organized and be patient.
I love that!! Thank you for thinking of my writing in your blog. I appreciate your perspective as well. I have been practicing multitasking but trying to keep it more organized as well. I am able to accomplish more when I write things down in a list form and divide my days according to the hour. There's so much to do and yet so little time in a day to do everything. I'm sorry I've been slacking on here. I have been wanting to respond to your comment here but I've been putting the Hive to the side. My partner suggested I make time to read stuff, comment, and write (for example, doing one each day). Have you had several tasks as of late that you're balancing out? I see that you share a lot of videos. I imagine those take a lot of time!
I know how you feel and I agree. I try to balance between writing posts and commenting. I can also spend all day watching videos. I look at my subscriptions on YouTube and I do not have time to watch all of the videos of all the people I follow. I love playing video games but have not played much since like 2012. I may try to make time for more of that in the future. I mostly have to find balance between different articles, posts, memes, videos, GIFs, etc, that I make, that I create, that I publish, that I share, that I design. I balance between whether I want to write about history, health, technology, my life, world history, religion, politics, world news, funny things, comedy, etc. I like to do everything. Yeah, make a minimum requirement for each day or each month like you said, reply to one comment per week and start out small at first and work gradually at developing habits but at a slow and gradual incline.
