Recovering Memories in Our Imagination Usually Causes Us Pain and Annoying Feelings

in OCD2 years ago

When we unexpectedly relive the sorrow and difficulties of other people's lives at a time when we believed that everything had ended for good, it is typically painful memories. When someone sees a similar picture or incident on television or reads about it in the news, disturbing memories may resurface. Or when equivalent restrictions are put in place, a person can be worse off.

Because of the way our minds recollect memories, recovering memories from memory frequently makes us feel uncomfortable and irritable.

When memories are presented in the imagination, there are typically two options:

The first method is to depict the recollections as though the incident is taking place right now, down to the last detail. The body and feelings are typically in great agony when using this procedure. Man, of course, has the ability to alter this method of presenting memories to the second, so we should study and practice it. (This technique is excellent for restoring lovely and amazing memories)

The second method is to visualize memories in the mind; any memory-related activity must proceed in this manner because by doing so, the meaning of the experience is altered and the impact of the actual event is lessened on the body.
