I don’t have a criminal record as such. I was charged once for “trespassing in a prescribed premises” at a local train station for crossing while the gates were coming down. It was clearly a revenue raising operation as the Adelaide Metro goons wearing all black had locked gates and were passing out fines for people who didn’t have tickets. I’d crossed when I did because I knew that they would take ages to check my ticket manually and miss the train for an appointment I had in another suburb.

It was the young girl behind who crossed after me who should have been their target, getting the undercover cop’s attention who pulled out her badge, but she just started crying and said something about telling her grandmother and she stormed off, uncharged.

I was told I was caught on camera, and a few days later there was a front page newspaper report about how that particular camera wasn’t actually recording anything. Coincidences are awesome.
$120 fines are not.
