Sleek dinner jacket, check. A pair of black oxfords, polished? Check. Moustache as sleek as his whole attire combined, check. That one thing he loves so much, check. Broken Italian accent… check.
This here gentleman is about to go to a movie theatre for a big movie night with his colleagues who dress as sharp-looking as he is. A fun movie night with his buddies... in time of chaos, massacre, and the 88s' pounding. What could go wrong?
This was a something that I recently started working on (again) and completed just to see how good I am at sculpting a stylized version of a real-life person. Stylized, yet still recognizable. A more common term for it would be cartoony.
Well, do you recognize who he is? I’ve asked a few people back when this was a work-in-progress. They all guessed wrong, but some of them definitely thought about the right answer before they did. How about you?
I divided my attention to an excellent guide on character stylization as I was working on this model which you can find here: Character Stylization by Jay Doherty. It’s an excellent guide for character artists, but I'd assume will work for other artists as well. Sometimes I wonder if I’ve done way too much research for my own good and haven’t spent enough time on the practice itself.
My aim for this one is to make the character look as simple as possible, while still keeping the tertiary details present as much as possible, which was kinda tricky to decide how much wrinkles on his face I needed to create.
Tricky, but fun. Too much tertiary details on the simplistic silhouette would make it look weird, I'd imagine, but too little of them would make it look like the artist was too lazy to add details.
This was supposedly just a quick character sculpting, but now that I’m working on another one that is related to this character, now I think he is a part of a bigger scene which will reveal the whole context.
This model will be available for 3D printing for those who are into that, which you’ll be able to find on my Artstation page and my CGTrader page soon after I posted the full scene.

Character Portrait | 3D Print-Ready Model
So, you're not just good at writing, but also at creating 3D models! I really like the simplistic, and cartoon-y look to him. He reminds me of a neat game called SpyParty, and seemingly, he looks like a great character to add into the game! Ah, Inglorious Bastards, what a movie that was :-)
Thanks! ^^
I failed at programming, so I decided to learn these more enjoyable things instead.
I've heard of that game, but never played it before. I didn't realize how he could fit in that game, since he's also a spy in the film XD
That's what makes him the perfect character for SpyParty! He's both destructive and charming XD

Is he Brad Pitt from Inglorious Basterds? I don't know that much about 3D modelling, other than this character looks sharp! 😎
Good guess. But is he, though? I don't know. Could be some other character from another movie ;)
And thank you ^^
How handy is Eevee seriously?! XD
except for hair and light strength, watch that if like me you're using Eevee for preview/quickies and Cycles for finals, if you're not all is well XD
Research isn't bad, I had to do a fair bit on how other people have done edge loops on faces, hips and shoulders (them things are super important).
I still hate retopo
and you can ask my sister about the excessive amount of other research I've done and how much I overthink things
so you're in "good" company therex_xI otherwise have the opposite problem to you and I tend to mess around a lot and see if I can blunder into what I want before I'll do much in the way of looking things up.
Character is looking pretty sharp, I wouldn't have a clue who it is x_x It's a very cute little diaroma you have happening there :)
Aside of being real-time itself? It's super fast I don't know why, even in my potato powered computer as you can see there. Volumetric and bloom effects are way easier, the latter you could make literally in a click of a button (but yes, you'll want to adjust things from there). So yeah, being real-time is easier for texturing and lighting .-.
My so-called 'research' is usually observing other people's fabulous artworks, then do more searching to figure out the tips and tricks to achieve certain looks from their artworks. But... I keep forgetting the good topoflow for the face! XD I think I need to do it like you a bit more. Also, by sister did you mean Darqx?
I'm sure you know who it is, Ry. I'm sure everyone knows who it is, or at least have seen him before but don't know his name. XD You not recognizing who that is probably means the artist isn't good enough :<
