If you're following me you already know that I am an SEO enthusiast and I would like to see Hive at the top of Search Engine results. I believe that all users are equally contributing to the platform by adding values to it. According to SEO, stats of Hive is booming and developing day by day. But we need to follow some SEO rules to make the growth fast.
Many of us here started blogging journey in blockchain-based social platform Steemit back in 2017. We all added a lot of value there and that's why according to Domain and Page Authority, Steemit is still one of the best-valued websites in the world of internet. After the rise of the Hive and madness of Justin Sun, Steemit is losing its acceptability fast. But we can't deny the fact that we can still use Steemit for our own good.
Here, I will try to explain why Steemit is still necessary for the rise of Hive. Let's checkout -
Why Steemit is Important for Hive's SEO?
I don't know what's on your mind, but I am an SEO enthusiast and I evaluated everything in terms of SEO.
At first, let's have a look at the stats of Hive Blog and Steemit according to SEO.

For ranking on Google DA, PA and number of Do-Follow backlinks matters a lot. And anyone will be jealous to see the growth of Hive Blog within just a few months. Within just a few months we are almost crossing Steemit (A 4 years old site) according to Alexa Ranking.
But DA of Steemit is 90 out of 100, which still makes it top rated site, and you will use that for our benefits. The question is, how?
We will use Steemit to create high-quality backlinks for Hive. Don't worry we won't add value by creating new posts and comments. We will just do some changes to our existing Steemit accounts. And Just by changing some stuff, we can get High-Quality backlinks from High DA website.
Backlink - If there is a link of your site on another site, it is a backlink for your site. This link could be a link to your site's homepage or any other page. Backlinks are also called incoming links or inbound links. For example, if I write a post on Medium about Hive and provide a link of Hive blog; that means I created a backlink for Hive Blog on Medium.
This plan can be implemented by Steemit users only, who moved away to Hive after the hard fork. New users are also invited to read the article to get a basic idea of SEO.
Convert existing Steemit posts to backlinks
We all know that we can also find all Steemit posts on Hive Blog as well. That means, back then, what we wrote on Steemit is now also available on our Hive profile. That means we have the same post in two platforms - one in Hive Blog, and another in Steemit.
And though we created the first post on Steemit, it already indexed on Google. Because this is one of the rules to rank on Google - Be the first, be the winner!
Let's have a look at the example. Here I found a post of expert user @joshman on Hive.
But if you search it on Google you'll see Steemit's link at first as it was first posted on Steemit.
Now, here comes the tricky part. If you go to the post on Steemit, you'll find nothing but a backlink of Hive. Because Joshman already edited his post on Hive and redirected traffic to Hive.
That means if someone searches for "Building A New PC Workstation" and find Joshman's Steemit article, he/she may click again on Hive's link to read the post.
This is how you can create quality backlinks using Steemit. And as there are no articles in the indexed Steemit URLs, sooner or later Google crawler bot may replace the result with Hive. This is how we can add value and increase DA, PA, and Backlinks of Hive using the rival platform.
Important Note- You can use a tool called Steem Pruner to remove your Steemit posts and add Hive's link easily. This tool was developed by @engrave.
Well, some people are posting on both platforms - Steemit and Hive. It's totally your choice. But you are requested to edit your old posts and add a backlink of Hive. You already got rewards for those Steemit posts and it won't cost anything (Just some time) to edit your Steemit's posts. By doing this you are also increasing the visibility of your Hive Blog's profile.
Change Half of Your Steemit Post -
If you don't want to remove/edit the whole posts by adding Hive's backlink, no problem!
You can add keep few paragraphs there at the interesting part finish it by "Click Here to Read Full Article". And add hyperlink of your Hive post in the text. This is also a good way to create quality backlinks. Most of the websites perform this trick to divert their website traffic to another website.
Add Some Backlinks Without Changing Anything
If you don't want to change anything of your existing Steemit posts that's fine. But you can divert your Steemit's traffic to Hive just by creating some backlinks in the existing posts.
For example, you can add some of your old or recent Hive posts to existing Steemit posts external links. It will increase the authority of the Hive blog without changing anything to your Steemit profile.
So, it's totally up to you how you're going to help Hive blog to rise. But don't forget - no matter which backlink techniques you're following, you are increasing the visibility of your Hive profile as well.
Add your Hive Profile link as Website
Go to the Setting of your Steemit account and add your Hive's profile link as your website address (If you already don't have any other website). In this way, you are getting a High-Quality Backlink from High DA website.
Steemit now has 6 million backlinks and Hive has 566k. As I already mentioned everyone in the community is working hard to add value. But there are some easy tricks to help the Hive community. Adding backlinks to Steemit is one of them.
Most of the veteran users like Joshman, @drakos already applied this trick to their Steemit accounts. But still, the majority of users didn't do it (including me! :/ I'll start editing from this week).
According to my analysis, even if 50% of the users started applying this trick to their Steemit posts, according to SEO the growth stats of Hive will fly like a rocket!

Steem Pruner! Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. Added to the post.
Although if people have been shitposting on Hive for the last few months, you might want to remind them to not backlink the last 'n' posts - I forgot so I've now got about 100 'page not founds' pointing back to Hive!
Oops.
Thanks @tipu...I'll check it out. I'm still navigating all the changes. Gets a bit confusing.
I have to look that.
Nice post, @pitboy.
Cool i'll take a look at that. cheers dude.
Thanks a lot for stopping by! :)
Stick my head in often just not a chatter box, always interesting posts on your part!
I'm almost never sold on shortcuts to increase SEO, and I'm not convinced this is the best move either. What happens if Steemit gets a big red flag from Google and we have all those back links directing to HIVE?
It may take longer, but there's a reason we left Steemit and I wouldn't trust them with our SEO.
Google or SEO has nothing to do with Steemit for being centralized and corrupted. Truth is there's no chance that High DA sites like Steemit gonna be "red flagged" by Google.
We can't deny the fact that we can still use Steemit for our own good. And on Steemit, those are our contents, like our properties!
Moreover, having same articles on two platforms isn't a good idea. So my suggestion is - as you don't trust them, just edit your posts and redirect them to Hive.
Hope you got my point. But those are your contents, so the choice is up to you.
In the time I wrote there, they had a no follow on posts under a certain amount. Did this change at some point in the last couple years? Better earners have posts indexed. I maybe had one or two.
As I see Steemit turning to a language I don't read, write, or speak, I wonder how Google will handle their new posts. Thanks for explaining. I've always been wary of non outreach or non natural backlinks. That can really hurt a websites rankings.

Awesome! Thanks for all the great info... guess I better get busy. Lol
You can use the tool Steem Pruner that I mentioned in my post to make it fast. Happy editing! 😏
I get the sentiment, but the example you give is not good. If you convert your article to a link, google ranks that down not up. Because that is not a good user experience, clicking on a link, only to find another link. Trust me, by doing this, you will only harm Hive.
@cryptogee
Changing and converting full article to backlink will affect Steemit, not Hive. As you're doing change on Steemit.
It's just another backlink from a another website. This is a common practice when people change the entire website and website address.
Clicking on www.yourolddomain.com would automatically redirect visitors to the same page on your new website www.yournewdomain.com
This doesn't mean that your new website is going to rank down because of the action of your old website!
Of course I believe that you have better logic than mine. That's why I mentioned three other options besides "removing/editing full article". Feel free to use one if you think it won't affect Hive.
This could work unless and until Steemit loses search engine credibility. Then we'd have all these links to a failing site dragging us down.
Incidentally, I posted a few articles on Hive about my art and posted links from here to my Etsy site. Almost immediately, my Etsy traffic went down. When I saw this was a trend, having a little knowledge of SEO, I deleted the links and my traffic started recovering almost immediately. It's really a shame, because here is where I write about my art and I'd like to link to it, but Hive's credibility at the moment does more harm than good, and I can't afford to lose the traffic.
@stephie.spicer it's really strange that you lost traffic for adding art link to your Hive's article!!!! I believe that there is another issue. Because your article is art related and you added link which is also related to same niche. You may only lose traffic when you add unrelated links. I am interested to more about it, let's see if I can find any solution or not. Feel free to ping me on Discord: pitboy#4591
This is a great idea. I wasn't aware that we can now edit posts greater than 7 days old on Steemit. Will get on to doing this.
Of course you can edit your post whenever you want. 7 days time limit is only for payout. :)
Yeah just realised it. Thanks! :)
This is awesomely cunning. Gonna do this trick asap.
Oh god I just remembered, I'm completely powered down to 5 SP there.
I am still powering down and transitioning away from steemit in steps (I like the "Click Here to Read Full Article" idea and will probably do that). Is there a certain amount of posts changed per day I should stay under so some algorithm doesn't mistake what I am doing as some kind of suspicious activity?
Outdated content is just one of the most common mistakes. It's important to know what mistakes to avoid. For those interested, I recommend this post on the subject: https://gamerseo.com/blog/common-seo-mistakes-to-avoid-fix-them-asap/
