Hey Hive!
I'm new here. I was referred by @fredrikaa
How's it goin'? Hope everything's alright despite the global pandemic.
Today is the 169th day since the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. One hundred sixty freaking ninth. That's about 5.6 months ago, and I haven't travel anywhere since then.
As a digital nomad, this feels like hell. That's why I'm keeping myself busy to stay sane.
Working online, creating crafty stuff, spending time with family/pets, and meditating are some of the things that keeps me busy during the global pandemic sh!t.
How about you guys? Do you also keep yourself busy to avoid your feelings?
The current global situation is freakin' insane!
Bush fires in Australia
Iran plane crash
Kobe's death
Brexit
postponed Tokyo Olympics
Beirut explosion
California wildfire
and the never ending worldwide protests ...
How you feel about these crazy things that's goin on? In the midst of all of this, you still move FORWARD. You start a new project. You’ve been thinking about it for a while, and the Covid-19 quarantine seems like a good time.
Some of us pile on commitment after commitment.
We fill up our Google Calendar with "things to-do".
We keep ourselves busy to avoid gut-wrenching —or even gratifying—feelings.
Sometimes, we're not even aware that we're doing this. It feels like we're running away from something. Most of us have anxiety issues or get uncomfortable when we're not doing sh!t. So we distract ourselves and go on Instagram or TikTok browsing non-sense stuff that's totally un-relatable but we keep browsing coz it eats up our time!
Ask yourself this, "Am I showing signs of anxiety and or depression?"
Do you throw yourself in front of a computer to be "in the zone" and do sh!t loads of work??? Does your work consumes you to distract yourself from the current awkward global situation? Some of you might say, "yeah dude, it puts off the problem."
Maybe this is your defense mechanism to protect yourself from difficult feelings?
Is that your strategy to provide tremendous value to your life?
Or maybe you're just tired not to process those negative emotion because of fear, anger, and sadness?
Do you believe this sh!t?
Some people who considered themselves "happy" are also worried that their happiness won't last. Say for example, the price of Bitcoin. (yeah dude BTC) At the time of this writing, BTC is about $11,468.20
Some of you crypto-enthusiasts out there who owns Bitcoin are prolly in cloud 9 right now. But, some are also ruminating about the drop.
It's overwhelming, I know. My coach lost a lot of money trading crypto when BTC went down to $5,938 in 2018.
But anyhoo, you should not be overwhelmed with your emotions mi amigo.
Talk to someone you fully trust about how you're feeling. You can video call with them and talk about it. If you don't wanna talk about, write it. If you're crafty like me, draw your emotions. That's what my psychologist suggested.
If you can afford it, see a psychologist. Therapy is one of the best ways to learn to process difficult emotions. I learned so many things about dopamine, serotonin and sh!t like that.
Reaching out to a trained therapist is the best thing that helped me overcome clinical depression.
I hope you enjoyed reading this article. I want to end this on a positive note, so I will just share this video I made on how I channel my emotions into an art piece:
That's about it guys, 'til next time! Ciao!
