Artchive: Anticipating 2021 + personal updates

in OCD3 years ago

Forward:
Last year, I was on an illustration tangent for about 45 days during the holiday slowdown. As with many goals, I put forth a ridiculous amount of effort and got burned out shortly thereafter.

This was one of my more interesting pieces (created in late December of last year) ~ two characters are wandering through a mountain pass on a rickety old model-T sled when they see a dreaded New Year approaching.

Sketch Mode

If you really think about it, don’t no one care about isometric art no more… but there I was creating it. Isometric is a scam, a fake-out… make-pretend 3D.

It’s CRAZY - I’ve monkeyed around with 3D for a VERY long time but never got very good at it. In early 2022 I plan to take some heavy-duty 3D training courses so I can finally get marketable skills in that realm.

Vector draft mode

As all of you know, my hiving has been crippled for a long time by a demanding full time job. It’s such a huge relief to have steady income now, but while I used to have ample time, but lacked ample dollars, I now have next to no time (and more, but hyper-inflated dollars). Seems my best option is to remain a corporate monkey for now, work and train like a mad dawg and keep investing toward full financial freedom.

Add to the mix my goal to vlog or podcast, my need for home repairs and my goal of homesteading and I’m overwhelmed. I’m thankful I can/did even make this post. I’ve been wanting to for a while now… but with no time for content creation, I had to pull art from my dusty vault.

Final Result & more ramblings

The demands keep stacking up at work… I’m tasked with making cool animated gifs for regular company social posts as well as building and maintaining the company site… I’ll also have to low-key work through most of the holiday week to create a 3 minute tech explainer video… but it’s alright I guess, as long as I manage to keep up…

Conclusion

2021 wasn’t quite the disaster I’d thought it would be, at least for me… I still have many prior year’s headaches, but now it seems I have a chance to erase them all… (providing WW3 doesn’t pop off or my nation of origin becomes even more of a gulag) if I can manage the dizzying juggling act I have going on.

On a personal note - about Christmas - I’ve been getting a lot of texts/DMs asking what I’m doing for Christmas… I no longer observe it. I still consider myself a Christian, but the holiday itself no longer interests me. I can’t really get into all that at the given moment.

Goodbye for now, hopefully I’ll be back in April or sooner with some positive developments. Have a Merry Whatever and Happy Holograms.

Thanks for asking!

I'm slow at writing and thinking and formatting, and I use a tablet, so it takes longer than it should.... the illustrations are murder though, and I don't like to show up to Hive empty-handed!

Hope you're doing well!

That means you really put sweat and blood into your post, makes me like them even more now! I'm pretty ok here on my side of the world :D

I wish you a Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁

Happy end of year! What a year!

Hopefully you're shielded from the fallout of this overblown mess. What have you been up to!

LOL - which mess!

Your colorful artistry is so much fun! I sometimes try to analyze it but appreciate its playfulness.

Thanks for stopping by Mr. Troy. My favorite aspect was the contrast between the attitude of the gingerbread man and the spooked reindeer. The gingerbread man simply ran out of cares to give about the situation. I admire that quality. Hope you have a GREAT 2022!
