Hi everyone!
I’m new here and I’m happy and super excited to be here. You can call me Nima as my friends call me. I don’t know about how you feel about your name but I think there wouldn’t be a better name fit for me. Nimatu is a Muslim name which means favor, blessing or bounty. I’m a Muslim and from Ghana precisely tamale which is in the north of Ghana. I don’t know if you heard, but northerners are more friendly and more hospitable than southerners
I’m the last born to my mother of 7 children and second to last to my father of 14 children. My dad had 3 wives (he’s no more, may his soul rest on) I know this sounds crazy but that’s what being from the north and a Muslim can get you lol. Basically Muslim men can be polygamous ( having multiple spouses ).
Like most people, we have insecurities we wish we could change and mine is my height. I’m 5’2 and I’m alway bullied by my friends but I have learnt to love it and accept myself as self acceptance is the first step to self love.
Growing up as the last born, I thought everything was gonna be provided for me because last borns are usually treated specially but the reality hit me when I went into the senior high school (high school). Things were getting difficult for me until I had the chance to be part of a scholarship program in my school. CAMFED is a scholarship program that supports needy but brilliant female students in most of the African countries. They provided me everything I needed to complete my senior high education. And I was lucky to be part of the tertiary scholars. I’m currently in my final year studying biochemistry in the university for development studies (UDS) one of the public universities in the north. I’m so grateful to CAMFED for giving me the opportunity to further my education. Without them I don’t think I would’ve been able to come this far due to financial difficulties.
Even though I’m not studying the program my heart was into. I wanted to study pharmacy, and pharmacy is a 6yr program, but the scholarship could only support you for 4yrs, so I chose biochemistry instead because it’s in a way related to pharmacy and it’s a 4yr program. But this is not going to stop me from pursuing my dream. Because I love chemistry and as I was growing up I wondered how drugs come by and how drugs are produced to treat diseases and how the drug work in the body. I’m hoping to further to study pharmacy in the future.
To this curious lady who loves chemistry also loves beauty and makeup. My mom told me when I was little that, I used to apply powdered stones and charcoal to my face as makeup 😂 while playing. (This was what I could find around ). I grew fond of it and I have been practicing ever since. I love to apply makeup when I’m bored or sad. It is kind of a mood lifer for me and a therapy. It has become a hobby of mine. And I hope to turn this hobby into a business one day I love piercings too. I have a nose piercing and a tragus on my ear. I love watching movies too. I’m more of a adventure, supernatural movie kind of person. I’m currently watching “stranger things “. It’s super nice. I like music too and I mostly like hip hop. I’m funny and love to laugh a lot and sometimes cry a little. I sometimes cry when I’m sad and trust me it always relieve me in a way.
And one of the things I love most is eating so because of that I have learnt to cook very well. I enjoy homemade food especially when I cook the food myself.
I love praying and talking to God. Because I believe praying can change worse situation to better ones. If I encounter a problem or come across a set back who’s the best person to talk to than that the one who created you. I put myself in other people’s shoes just to understand them. Im a good listener, I listens to my friends problems and sometimes help solve them. I work better in a team too. I love giving back to communities and helping out others. Helping girls like me achieve their dreams.
You might be wondering how I got here. Well we all have that one friend that wants you to succeed no matter what. I’m grateful to @depressedfuckup for introducing me to this amazing platform. He mentioned @collinz and @mcsamm are building a Ghanaian community here which I look forward to being a part of. I’m excited to be here and I hope to learn and make new friends.
