Hello Hive - Introduce Myself - 6 April 2022

Hello dear friends,

I'm new here and I'm happy to introduce myself to you.
I'm happy to be here. I hope to share beautiful posts and beautiful photos with you.

I'm Nihat. I was born in Van, the most beautiful city in Turkey, in 1988. Turkey's largest lake (Van Lake) is located in this city. I have two brothers and three sisters, but one of my older sisters passed away six years ago. In 1992, we moved to Istanbul in the back of a pickup truck.

When we came to Istanbul, I saw many different lifestyles. I tried to adapt over time. My sister started school and two years later, I started school. In those two years, I prepared myself for education. After completing my secondary education, I started high school. I worked in textiles with my brothers during the summer to earn my living. I started working on the boat on weekends with the recommendation of a friend. I began by washing dishes there and washing 1000-6000 plates a day. We were traveling the Bosphorus by boat. We held many events on that boat, such as meetings, weddings, engagements, and birthdays. I was tired, but the work I did was worth it. I finally got a great job :)

After graduating high school, I went back to the same boat. This time I started working in a different place. I started getting training from the cook. When our cooker went to the military, I was responsible for everything in the kitchen. One day, while sitting in the kitchen, the boat's mechanics came to the boat for machine maintenance. This time I wanted to learn technical issues. I was constantly asking questions to learn about machines :)

One day I said to myself, "I will be the captain of this boat." After learning about the boat's machinery, my boss, Can, the boat owner, helped me in many ways. Dear Can was my teacher. He was the only person who taught me and made me love sailing. He called me and told me that I needed to get the necessary documents to become a captain. I was working non-stop to learn my job better. My dear brother, my captain, used to give heavy work and I was doing those jobs. He has been through these roads, too. He used to say that I went through the same difficulties as he did. He always told me that he believed in me and that I would be successful in this profession. I have never seen a captain like him boating in the Bosphorus. The boat I worked on was the giant excursion boat on the Bosphorus. It was 45 meters long and 12 meters wide. After working with him for 6 years, I got my captain's certificate and became the captain of the boat where I washed the dishes :)

Yes, maybe you will be surprised, but we have to achieve something because we have no other choice. Being a captain has been an excellent job for me. If I had continued my education, I would not have been able to do this enjoyable job. Ben Nihat. 1988 yılında Türkiye’nin en güzel şehri Van’da doğdum. Türkiye’nin en büyük gölünün olduğu bu şehir ülkenin en doğusunda yer alıyor. 2 abim ve 3 ablam var ama ablalarımdan bir tanesi 6 yıl önce aramızdan ayrıldı. 1992 yılında bir kamyonetin arkasında İstanbul’a taşındık.
İstanbul’a geldiğimizde çok farklı yaşam tarzları gördüm. Zamanla uyum sağlamaya çalıştım. İlk önce ablam ondan iki yıl sonra da ben okula başladım. O iki yıl içinde eğitim için alt yapımı hazırlamıştım. Ortaokul eğitimimi tamladıktan sonra liseye başladım. Yaz tatillerinde kendi geçimimi sağlamak için abimlerle tekstilde çalışıyordum.

Bir arkadaşımın tavsiyesi ile hafta sonları teknede çalışmaya başladım. Orada bulaşık yıkayarak işe başladım. Tekne ile İstanbul boğazını geziyorduk. O teknede toplantı, düğün, nişan, doğum günü gibi birçok etkinlik yapıyorduk. Günde 1000 -6000 arası tabak yıkıyordum. Yoruluyordum ama yaptığım işe değdi. Sonunda harika bir mesleğe sahip oldum :)

Liseyi bitirdikten sonra önceden çalıştığım tekneye tekrar gittim. Bu sefer farklı bir yerde çalışmaya başladım. Aşçıdan eğitim almaya başladım. Aşçımız askere gidince mutfak bölümünde her şeyin sorumluluğu bana kaldı. Bir gün mutfakta otururken teknenin makina ustaları makina bakım için tekneye geldiler. Bu kez teknik konuları öğrenmek istedim. Makinaları öğrenmek için devamlı soru soruyordum:)

Bir gün kendime dedim ki; “Ben bu teknenin kaptanı olacağım.” Teknenin makinalarını öğrendikten sonra tekne sahibi Can abim bana birçok konuda yardımcı oldu. Can abi benim öğretmenimdi. Bana denizciliği öğreten ve sevdiren tek kişiydi. Beni kaptan köşküne çağırdı ve bana kaptan olmam için gerekli belgeleri çıkarmam gerektiğini söyledi. İşimi daha iyi öğrenmek için durmadan çalışıyordum. Can abim yani kaptanım ağır işler verirdi ve o işleri de yapıyordum. Kendisi de bu yollardan geçmiş. Benim de kendisi gibi aynı zorluklardan geçtiğini söylerdi. Bana inandığını ve bu meslekte başarılı olacağımı bana her zaman söylerdi. Can abim Beykoz Su ürünler denizcilik mevzunudur. İstanbul boğazında tekne kullanmada onun gibi kaptan görmedim. Çalıştığım tekne boğazın en büyük gezi teknesiydi. 45 metre boy ve 12 metre genişliğe sahipti. 6 yıl onunla çalıştıktan sonra kaptanlık belgemi aldım ve bulaşık yıkadığım teknede kaptan oldum :)

Evet belki biraz şaşıracaksınız ama bir şeyler başarmak zorundayız çünkü başka çaremiz yok. Kaptanlık benim için harika bir meslek oldu. Eğitime devam etseydim bu keyifli işi yapamayacaktım.
