This is the second painting I submitted for IWS Turkey festival. It did come up well but looks like kids painting to me. I didn't want to send it but the deadline is today so anyway it can go as an option.

Most important thing is to get the perspective right. Then the size of people with related to the tower and the position of trees. The colour scheme in this painting is bright and vivid.. I kept it the same in painting.. may be this is why it looks like kids painting 😂

Process:
The windmill fan blades are tricky. Could have been easier if we just use a masking fluid or a small take to cover it and paint.. but I dotn want to use it.. I went old school trying to leave the white of paper safe and painted around it.

It needed to be quick so couldn't take picture during that time. Then went on to paint the trees.

Next is the body of the windmill.. it has beautiful shadow in it and a glow. Have to use orange and blue gradient to get it right. And then next layer once it dries can paint the stones.

Followed by the next windmill which is mostly in shade.. and then there is a third far away hidden in the trees .

Finishing off with few figures standing nearby

Looks ok as a painting.. bright and shiny.. and when compared to the reference image it's good to.. but I am not liking it much some some reason.
