Introduction Post

in OCDlast year

Hey

I'm mclynchy ( or Emma )and I was introduced to Hive by @killerwot and @xkasabian. To be honest, I haven't a notion what I'm doing, so any help is appreciated!

I'll tell you all a little bit about myself, and hobbies so I can get pointed in the right direction, and to get recommendations for some communities to join!

Who I Am

I currently work as a barista, and I really enjoy everything about it. Becoming a barista was a lucky break for me, as I was offered a job in my local coffee shop when I was trying to escape the dark world of retail 😂 They took me on with no experience, so I'm so grateful!

My Hobbies

As mentioned before, I love making coffee and see it as a hobby more so than a job - which I'm incredibly lucky to have that mindset. In the future, I'd love to run my own coffee van or shop, as the coffee industry has grown so much in Ireland in recent years (especially since the pandemic).

I have recently gotten into gaming, and I have almost completed Red Dead Redemption 2 (currently playing as John Marston, and just finished building the ranch!). I never thought I'd see myself finishing a game that long, as beforehand I only ever used to play GTA V on my brother's xBox, just running around and driving recklessly, and never actually doing any missions LOL.

I also love music a lot, and really enjoy concerts. I recently went to see Harry Styles in Slane Castle, which was surreal. My favourite artists though would have to be Noah Kahan, Phoebe Bridgers, Hozier and the 1975! I hope to enjoy some more gigs soon.

As many people also do, I love travelling and exploring new places. I've been to some pretty cool places over the years which I might do a post about in the future. My dream destinations are probably South Korea and Japan. I've always been extremely interested in the different cultures, and remember doing so many school projects when I was in primary school, so I think if I ever get to visit them, I'd probably just cry when I get off the plane.

A picture of me when I visited Carcassonne in France

Hive

I hope I figure out what I'm doing soon, so any help and tips will much appreciated! From what I've heard, it's a pretty great platform with great people.

Thanks to everyone who reads my introduction. 😀

@mclynchy I'm delighted reading this and seeing you took the plunge into the world of Hive. I've been running through everything with @xkasabian and while he has had his head wrecked with it, he's getting the hang of it now.

It's very different than any other social media, but essentially the same really. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask me, or just about anyone here on Hive. The community is really nice and everyone is happy to help any way they can.

I'll drop another comment here when I'm on the computer and link you some communities to check out.

Thanks for the encouragement!! Andrew kept at me today and I'm glad he did. I'm gonna think of what to post about during the week so hopefully I'll get my flow of things soon😄

It's a great place full of really nice and interesting people from all over the world, I think as a newbie, float around a bit, check out some communities and see what's out there, you'll find a bunch of places you'll enjoy hanging out. Also, engagement is key, make sure to do some reading, commenting and following.

Happy Hiving! I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts.

A big welcome to you Emma, I hope you find your groove here, it's a fantastic place with many wonderful people from all over the world.

You love coffee? My kind of gal. Me too.

Take your time to find your way around, have a look through the communities (there are loads) and I am sure you'll be finding new people in no time. If you have questions, shout, I know that everyone here helped me immensely when I started and I'd be happy to help where I can. Mostly, enjoy the process and have fun.

🦋 The other Emma 🙂

Thank you so much Emma!! I really appreciate it🥺

Welcome to Hive @mclynchy. There is a wonderful community on here and lots of different communities where you can share you life passions.
Look out for threetunetuesday by @ablaze in the music community, where you can share your favourite music with us all.
There is lots of travel and gaming communities as well. Xx

That sounds brilliant! Thank you so so much x

Hey @mclynchy, welcome to Hive. Your friend @killerwot has been flying it since joining a couple of years ago and looking at your interests, I reckon you'll do really well here.

Your knowledge and love of coffee will be well appreciated in the #coffee community.

You can tell some stories about your travels in #pinmapple

You can tell us more about Noah Kahan and others at #music community and use tags #ttt and #threetunetuesday if you want to take part in my weekly contest.

You'll start getting to know some characters through each and find other communities.

The best thing to do is engage with some posts every day. Quality over quantity here. Comments like "great post" or "That was really good" don't tend to land well. Instead make a meaningful comment which shows that you actually read the post.

Anyways welcome along and have fun.

That is fantastic, thank you so much for the tips! I'm gonna put that to use in the near future😄

Welcome aboard! I'm sure @killerwot will steer you right. Hive is not like other social media, but it can still be fun. Find some people who share your interests so you have stuff to read. #coffee is pretty popular here. There are communities based around various interests.

Enjoy and have a !PIZZA.

Thank you so much!! Glad to be here😊

Welcome to Hive Emma!

With all your hobbies and work - barista, gaming, music and travel, I'm sure you'll have plenty to blog about. Just let everything flow naturally and be yourself and you'll be good.

Most important of all, have fun!!

Thank you so much!! So excited to start my journey😄

Glad to see that @killerwot got you into hive with the help of another! It’s a great place and the important thing is to take it slow, learn the small things you can but get out there and just read peoples posts, leave comments and have fun! It takes time to build an audience but with dedication you can do well. Just don’t forget to comment and talk with others is all I would really say!

I’ve delegated you some “resource credits” so that you can comment to your hearts content without worrying about running out. Enjoy and I hope to see you around!

Brilliant thanks for the advice!! Yeah he's gonna recruit us all now, and rightly so!🤣

Hey Emma! @killerwot always makes a great content and I am sure he'll also tell you more about it but when you have the time, You can read some of the communities in this post that you may like : OCD Communities Incubation Program and for all hive communities you can check https://peakd.com/communities.

Some additional information includes :

  • For tips and information as a Hive newbie, click here: newbie guide.
  • The important thing is Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog. You can't include content that you don't own without sources. For more information, check this post: Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise. Not to mention, overall plagiarized content is bad for your credibility and visibility too.

If you have questions or concerns, you can hop into OCD's Discord server and we'll gladly answer your questions.

~ @macchiata from the @OCD and @lovesniper team bringing you some helpful tips navigating hive.

ahh thank you so much for the help, it's really appreciated!!😄

Welcome to Hive! If you're into gaming it would be cool to see your content in the [Hive Gaming Community].

Definitely! If you have any game suggestions for me please let me know, im nearly finished RDR2 so I'd love a new game to play!!

Welcome to Hive @mclynchy . Good to have you here.

HELLO @mclynchy you really a gorgeous lady, welcome to hive also a newbie here too...I never drank a coffee that looks that good and creative...

Welcome!

Probably the most important thing I can tell a new member of Hive is remember to keep your account keys secure and protected. You never want to lose access to your account and start over.

There's (currently) no coffee token on the Hive blockchain so here is !BEER for you. Maybe you'll be the one who creates COFFEE token on Hive eventually.

Looks like !BEER bot is down so let's try !WINE - and if that doesn't work !MEME and !LOL should.

Did you hear about the Irish guy who was assassinated at the antique store?
It was a knick knack paddy whack.

What an awesome introduction! Worked as a Barista once too ;) Maybe it helps to say that my blog is the closest I keep to a diary next to my sketches. If I'd ask myself the question how personal I'd like to get, the answer is literally that no one would truly understand the contents of my blog except for my sister or literally a few on here who have become the most awesome people I know. Some I'd still like to meet and other I already met because they made me curious. If you're from the hive, you will notice that we are a very special flock of sovereign people who own our data and our content. That does in itself carry a certain kind of intellect. Welcome to the Hive!

Welcome.... I hope you enjoy your journey !!
