Hi! Today I want to tell you about the activity that I mentioned in my first post #introducingme about social work with the children of a community called “Santa Rosa”. I do this accompanied by two friends who help me and with the financial support of people who are outside the country who are dedicated to making donations for the populations that need it most, mainly these people are in the United States of America, and their Donations come to us through my brother-in-law (who lives abroad).

Hola!

The crisis we are experiencing in Venezuela is no secret to anyone, however, there are people who still get ahead with remittances from relatives abroad, with their work, or simply have a strong job that has not made them stagger even in these circumstances ( I'm sure these people are no more than 20%). There are communities that are in precarious situations, where they do not even have a blanket to sleep on, they do not have the day-to-day food that is so necessary to maintain good health. Children are the future of this country and the entire world, and if it is in our power to safeguard their well-being and innocence, we will do our best to do so.

This project started together with my sister, the first day I remember that we had only 15 meals, which was not enough for all the children who needed it and I confess that we returned with a broken heart and in a sea of tears ... our thought was “we could having done more, we were able to help more children who needed food” we simply did not do good calculations and we did not imagine the number of children there could be at that time. Then we increased the amount of food and currently we distribute a total of 85 plates of food (we would like to have more).
The food is made by me and my friends. When the money reaches our account we take care of making all the necessary purchases and with a list in hand we buy the food that we will need for a whole month. We buy meat, vegetables, pasta, rice, beans, ham, cheese, ketchup, among other foods to cook. I do not deny that it is difficult work, since calculating food for a number of 85 children is not easy and it is not something we are used to either. Now my sister is not in this project physically, but at a distance she advises us and gives us all the guidelines to do it (she lives in Mexico)

We take meals once a week, usually on weekends, which are the days we have free to cook and bring food (with the university we don't have much free time, my friends also study medicine) so the free time that we have to distract ourselves we invest it in doing this work. I say investing because it is something so beautiful that it enriches our hearts and souls, makes us more sensitive, more human and without a doubt makes us better people.

I have an anecdote to tell you: one day an old woman asked us for a meal for her, she was a person who had all the capabilities and the appearance of not having any need, however, we said to her with all respect “Madam, when we finish giving The food for the children, surely there will be some left over, we give it to you, but the priority is the children, they first ”, to which the lady responded with insults, she could not believe that we would deny her a meal. I do not deny that at first I was scared, the lady was ready for anything and I thought she could attack us, then with great kindness I gave her a plate of food and even so she continued to insult us, to which we ignored her, but we we feel good to have helped.

In December 2020, we received a greater amount of donations, so we decided to give them a gift: to give them clothes and shoes that many lacked (most of the children were barefoot). So we went to a department store where we bought clothes and shoes. We previously asked for a list of approximately 90 children with shoe, shirt and pants sizes. That day we ended up exhausted, imagine choosing clothes for 90 children in a department store). They almost didn't want to sell us, they thought it was for resale, until we showed photos and proof that it was for social work, and we did it! Then the task was to organize everything by name and size of each child, that day we had a great time (at the end of the day we rewarded ourselves for the great day of the day with some good hamburgers).

The day we brought the clothes and the gifts was full of emotions, we also brought cookies, food and everything to share and give them a day of joy that every child undoubtedly deserves (in fact, every day should be happy). I can not explain the satisfaction we feel, I would be short ... but that day I really think we were happier than them hahahaha

I tell you all this, not with the intention of bragging, in fact we have never photographed ourselves with children so that people do not say that we want to show that we are good people, the truth is that we feel that we help and we feel good about it, and with we have plenty of that. I want you to know that helping is the most beautiful way to live. There is a very famous phrase in my country that says "He who does not live to serve, does not serve to live." My intention is to sow a seed of goodness in each of the people who read me (if they will allow me). I assure you that by helping, even by giving a bread to the old man who is standing outside the bakery, they will brighten his day, and the satisfaction they will feel is indescribable.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my story, I wish with all my heart that more and more people help and that they grow with us in this beautiful work. Have a nice day.

Greetings and hugs.

Katy.

Saludos y abrazos
Katy.

Sad to see and hear this situation of Venezuela, but I am happy to see that there are caring people, who help them.

Sometimes I also do not have enough food because of the lack of necessary money (my income is less than the minimum wage), but at least I have a blanket to sleep on.

I wish all the best to every Venezuelan from Hungary.
Stay strong, stay healthy, stay happy.

Greetings from Hungary.

Thanks for your comment! I sincerely hope your situation get better soon!

Greetings❤️
