The artist of dreams, or artist of nightmares.

This Polish artist was born in a village in Poland, in 1929. It is considered that his vocation to art is a mystery, since he was self-taught. He studied architecture and dedicated much of his life to construction, but in the decade of the 60s he felt attracted to art and it was there and then that he began to tell his story.

It is at that time when the artist is dedicated to the creation of photography and photomontage, and there already gave hints of the creepy that was inside him. In these, you could see portraits without faces, wrinkled or whatever you could imagine. It was only a matter of time before he turned completely to painting, where he got no help from anyone, thus beginning a self-taught apprenticeship in oil and acrylic.

As all dreams take work, it was not until 1964 when he triumphed in an exhibition in Warsaw and was given the opportunity to devote himself completely to painting and eventually became one of Poland's most significant artistic figures.

Every artist emerges, is reborn, is rebuilt.

Benksínski started a new stage, which he called "fantastic period", and this was the most important, significant and the one that created another level of terror, in a more realistic way and full of skulls, crowds, death scenes... He always said that he photographed dreams, but this goes beyond that, they were not only dreams, but nightmares.

People associate art with the artist's personality, but on the contrary, it is said that he was a very kind, optimistic and to some extent charismatic person. People often wonder why a large number of his works do not have names, when he never really knew the meaning of them, and therefore never saw the need to give them a name.
