The saying is just a cruise for me and it has zero impact on my emotions but somehow it makes me rethink how to get better on some things because being wasteful as an adult can make that stage look really like a scam.

Adulthood is not scam, we are just disappointed that didn't go as the picture the adult from back then made us see. They hid the struggles and made life beautiful, only a few of us saw the shits our parents were going through to put food on the table for us.

Adulthood is all about responsibilities and the faint hearted ones don't have options than to complain, I am gladly bearing mine.
