Yesterday when I was browsing through my archive, I found this interesting photo that I took few years ago. It was from a photowalk that I did with partner along the Arab street in Singapore. In this district, there are old houses that were transformed to shop house or commercial spaces. The interesting part about this leased properties is that the lessor are not allowed to change the structure of the old house. The lessor can improve some of the decor but not the over integrity of the building. It's a challenge for the designer to be creative however I noticed some of the shophouses were made interesting using modern materials on its facade.
One of them is this shot. I like how they create multiple reflections using different kinds of reflective materials like steel, mirror, and glass. On top of that, the full height glass on the side also add depth to the image because it's refractive and show a bit of the interior space.
Awesome image. It's surprising given how much is in the picture that it's not overwhelming to look at, but the contrasts and continuities present make one want to scrutinize it deeper to disentangle the puzzle! I also love the Picasso quote you chose, it's so true :-)
I haven't thought of it as puzzle but now it looks like it is. I just realize as I look clearly in a higher resolution, I'm seeing more of the details that makes it even more interesting. Thanks for your comment!
