1st of October 1960 this great nation gained her independence from the colonial master through the help of many great people like chief oba Femi awolowo, pm tafawa balewa, MKO Abiola and many other great people that fought for the glory of the land.

Nigeria was colonized by the great British force that invaded Lagos through the coast of the old ancient Badagry in 1865,
Nigeria became British protectorate in 1901 while her colonization lasted till 1960,
Nigeria was formally called by the name Niger area, after the name of the great river Niger and was later rename by Mrs lugard Florence, the wife of governor Lord Lugard one of the governors that rule over Nigeria then,
Nigeria became an independence nation in 1st of October 1960 and became a republic in 1963 but succumbed to military rule then, but now a full democracy nation,
Nigeria capital was at Lagos Ikeja before it was moved to FCT Abuja, where we have the government house currently the Aso rock,
The official date of the independence was formally 1st of October but was changed in honor of a great man who fought and died for democracy in person of MKO Moshood kashimawo Abiola , aka baba okenne and a remembrance of a great day June 12
So president Muhammad Buhari GCFR announce June 12 as the new official day of Nigeria democracy day,
Nigeria is blessed with a lot of riches and mineral such as gold, crude oil, lime stone, coal and other mineral
