Quick and simple Hilsha Polao cooking

in OCD5 years ago

Hello foodies,

Hope you all are doing good.

Yesterday I was quite late to return home from office compared to other day. After coming home found my wife was getting prepared to cook Hilsha Polao, the traditional and popular Bangla dish. As this was one of my favourite foods, I tried to help my wife while she was cooking.

During that time I observed how she cooked the food. Here in this post trying to demonstrate that. I bought One large Hilsha and flavoured rice from market, the main components of this cooking. Here is the photo.

First, take a Hilsha fish and clean it properly. Cut the fish as per required pieces.

Then take small portions of Oil and Ghee into a fry pan and heat it for few minutes. Then add one table spoon chopped onion, garlic and ginger with the heated oil. Then fry for few minutes.

After that add one cup of sweet and sour curd with the heated paste. Finally spread the fishes on the fry pan. Then heat the fish for about 10 minutes.

Then comes the cooking of Polao-

Take half KG of flavoured rice. Wash it properly. Take a rice cooking pan and add oil, bay leaves and flavour spices with it. Then add two spoon of chopped onion, garlic and ginger with it. Then fry for 3 minutes. Now spread rice over it and heat for two minutes. Then add one litre of hot water with it. Boil the rice for 10 minutes.

When the rice is almost boiled, spread the fishes over it and cover the fishes with rice. Then it’s ready to serve.
