INTRODUCTORY POST

Hello guys, My name is Adekogbe Adedamola. I am a Visual Art student.
I'm an enthusiastic Visual Artist, a painting major. I create art with paints.

I am from Lagos state, Nigeria. I started drawing from my primary school. It began by drawing characters from a picture dictionary and story books. My buddies who could also draw and I got together and started a sort of club, we came together to draw, go home to draw and then bring it to school to show Then to ourselves and other students. What one of us draws, the others do. When I got to secondary school, I met other students who could draw, and the competition was tough among us. I was happy and it gave me the zeal to be better. I found it really challenging because we didn't have a standard art department, but I was able to get through it. It was at this period I knew who and what I wanted to be when I met Mr Kolade Oshinowo. He came to my secondary school and I was fortunate to meet him and read his book. My art career seriously began around 2017. I started with my pencils and poster colour. Got commission works for portraits. Since then I have gradually been working my way to the top.

My work is known for its originality, uniqueness and themes. My works depict a range of style and subject matter, from portraits to landscapes, biblical themes, genre scenes, animal studies. I use value, texture, colours and chiaroscuro, which is the theatrical use of light and shadows, to achieve and evoke certain points of my works, such as making the audience and viewers connect to them physically, mentally, spiritually. Art is to be felt deep inside, from the bottom and not just the surface. I always try to capture emotions and pay attention to details. My works are greatly influenced by artists whom I see as mentor figure, the likes of Kolade Oshinowo, Rembrandt, Bolaji Ogunwo, Tibor Nagy etc.
I always love to paint without disturbance, just me, my materials, canvas, music and God.
I'm optimistic and always ready to learn new ideas as I push my strength and creativity to create more works.
My dream is to become a fulfilled artist, successful and recognized, to have the coming and every generation connect to and learn from my works and experiences. Basically, my career have been motivated by the inspiring works of other artist, both contemporary and masters.

I got to know about this platform from an amazing artist friend, @krucekoncept and @artby.dara . They commended the platform a lot and spoke about the positive impact it had on them, so I decided to give it a try and see how much it would also impact in my life and my art.
I see this platform as an opportunity to improve and also challenge myself to creating art every day. I also see this platform as an amazing opportunity to share what I enjoy doing. I intend to share my art with fellow enthusiasts, and supporting fellow artists like myself.
