Phuket is very well known for beautiful beaches 🏖️, nightlife and all types of tourist activities. But most people aren't aware of Phuket's large Muslim population. As a matter of fact one of Phuket's biggest tourist areas, Patong, is a Muslim place with a huge mosque. Today with the tourists and the industry gone only the locals are left. Before the highrises and malls were built Patong was nothing more than a Muslim fishing village with coconut trees lining a stunning beach. Well those days are gone but the people aren't.
Local style
However, I live far from such tourist areas in Phuket town. Although most of the Muslim population is located near the water as traditionally and currently they are fishermen. Even today you can go to Kalim just next to Patong and buy fish at a small stall straight from the boat. I know because I often times drink tea with those very same fishermen. Very friendly guys. But closer to my home in town most of the people are of Chinese heritage mixed with Buddhist Thai. However, next to my house is a local masjid (mosque) from which I hear the daily calls with a small Muslim population surrounding. As I walked to have a tea ☕ today I noticed such beautiful flowers at the masjid and snapped a couple of photos which I think turned out pretty good. Have a look below...
There used to be a big fluffy cat there relaxed on the wall there and demanded love from passerbys. As all things go missing eventually so did he. Regardless of his fate he was so friendly and fluffy he's not forgotten!
As they say in life, don't forget to stop and smell the flowers! I'm not so much into smelling them as I am photographing 📷them and enjoying their beauty.
I hope you enjoyed this post and remember to stop and pet the fluffy cats and enjoy the beauty life offers us such as flowers, If you liked this content feel free to upvote 🗳️ and reblog. Cheers and have a lovely day!
Nice pictures
Thanks! :)
The mosques here aren't too well taken care of, but they do a bit of landscaping. I don't know if I've a cat this tolerant in a long time.
Yes well you know Thai style.. love to make everything look beautiful :) This mosque is just near my house. Yeah I miss that fluffy cat, he was lovely.
