Celebrating Uttarayan ( Kite Festival)

Hello dear hivers, good evening and welcome to my blog @birjudanak once again. It's been wonderful last two day Friday & Saturday as we had holiday because of festival Uttarayan(Kite Festival) here in Surat, Gujarat, India. I was little busy with friends and family, and it's time to share about this festival, as sure you guys will enjoy it.

In India, lots of festival celebrated as sure maximum compare to any country and one of them is uttarayan which is celebrated more in my state Gujarat which just went on 14th and 15th January. I enjoyed it with friends on terrace about what I am going to sharing with you all. It was my favorite festival when I was a kid because I stayed on the roof for two days just for flying kites.

I am glad not to everyone but most of the people have holiday here for this festival and thus people start to flying kites since early morning to till night and enjoy things with their friends and family. They like to fly different types of kites as regular paper, plastic paper, butter paper etc. kites are flying with rope which I have shown in the picture with kite so you guys can know it.

This festival is highest to enjoy by kids as they keep flying kites whole day as well as run the whole place from here to there to take cut down kites of others. Some kind of kids are very crazy that they not like to come down from terrace even to eat, and their mom takes food to the terrace. Elder people mostly went on terrace in evening for 2-3 hours as that time is maximum kites are flying in the sky, and It's great to enjoy them.

We have some special snacks too to eat specially in this time and on this festival, and they are chikis. I don't know what to call them in english, and thus I write it in my local languages as there are Sing Chikki, Tal Chikki, Mava Chikki. There are also Mamra Chikki too but this time we have not made as we not eat it much. My brother brought fresh strawberry this time. I like them all to eat, so I enjoyed it so much.

In the evening people like to do fireworks as clouds becomes dark as well as keep flying white kites in night as they can little visible, so they enjoy in night too of flying kites. Some people also did food function in night too but due to covid cases increases in my city, we not did it because we not like to more people on one place. I have captured photo of firework but not much clear.

The most wonderful part I like is sunset time as weather is so nice these days here as cool wind and clean sunset just love it as I keep seeing it as I know I will get only for 2 days it as not often at this time on terrace because of work on routine time. I enjoyed there and clicked some photos of the evening view from the terrace.

As you can see it's evening and sun almost gone but still peoples are enjoying in terrace. Here I captured a kite which is in shape of eagle as it's for very small kids because they like this kind of thing which they like to fly as it of gas and thus without doing anything, it flies up. Overall this festival for all and thus It's good to enjoy with all.

I also flew kites in evening as you can see, and it's a great fun in this pandemic because once again covid atmosphere here building at my city so in that tense time It's good to spend some nice time with festival. The big thing is that this time festival comes on Friday and Saturday as it's followed Sunday, so people will enjoy it on Sunday too because of another holiday.
