RE: Special Museums in Vienna (7) // Spezielle Museen in Wien (7)

Dear Anna,
I'm here!! Finally. Hope you are well.
We are still without an Internet connection here, though thankfully we have power. I have been learning how to use my phone. Another amazing blog. The story of Ephesus is fascinating. It's almost as though the history of the Ionian Peninsula can be traced through that one city. I have been reading up (on my phone!) on the transition especially to the Ottomans. The Greek/Ottoman dynamic is one that haunts modern politics even today. Interesting how the present is so often a mirror of the past.

I loved all the featured statues, but I think Boy with a Goose is my favorite. Have to wonder who, or what, was the inspiration for that, and have to marvel that whatever inspired the sculpture has gained a kind of immortality. The subject of the statue, and artists could never have imagined that we would be marveling at the piece thousands of years later.

I'm saving this comment on a flash drive, going over to the parking lot, picking up a stray WiFi signal (I hope) and posting from my son's laptop (I hope). It's almost two weeks now...two lifetimes in Hive world.

Thank you for the distraction and journey through time.

Please be well and peaceful,

Affectionately,
AG

Dear AG,
I'm so happy you're back. Thank you very much for taking such an effort to answer me.

Almost two weeks without power is unimaginable for me, not only because of the breakdown of all communication networks. I wonder how you managed everyday's life without electricity. I really hope that you got through this blackout well. Unfortunately, at such times we have painfully to experience how dependent we all are on the energy providers.

Always happy if you take a closer look at my posts. Researching on mobile phone was certainly very exhausting. As far as Ephesus is concerned, I find it interesting that Christianity spread to Asia Minor from this ancient city. So several references in the book of the Acts of the Apostles point to the missionary activity of the apostle Paul in Ephesus.

Please take care, stay well and safe.

Affectionately,
Anna
