Águila solitaria || Solitary eagle || Splinterlands

El Águila es un animal de importancia en el mundo Andino. Y eso viene desde ufff tiempos inmemoriables. Por eso, quise plasmar a este animalito como parte de este concurso de arte. Para que esta ave sea más conocida y respetada.

Investigando, encontré que en la Cordillera de los Andes tenemos gran diversidad de aves, en específico águilas. En un inicio creí que solo eran 3 ó 5, pero no, hay mucho más. Cada uno con una labor específica para el ecosistema. Y justo eso lo tenían muy presente las distintas culturas de nuestros antepasados.

The eagle is an important animal in the Andean world. And that goes back to time immemorial. That's why I wanted to depict this little animal as part of this art contest. So that this bird becomes better known and respected.

While researching, I discovered that the Andes Mountains are home to a wide diversity of birds, specifically eagles. At first, I thought there were only three or five, but no, there are many more. Each one has a specific role to play in the ecosystem. And that is precisely what the different cultures of our ancestors kept in mind.

Anka solitaria

Ya me está gustando esto de bocetar con un color y luego redefinir la figura para pasarlo con tinta. Lo que destaco de esta técnica es que uso menos el borrador...A menos que quiero que el personaje tenga una posición desconocida para mí. Allí sí necesitaría más práctica.

I'm already enjoying this process of sketching with one color and then redefining the figure to transfer it with ink. What I like about this technique is that I use the eraser less... Except when I want the character to have a position that is unknown to me. There, I would need more practice.

Según la imagen de referencia, voy poniendo las sombras. Un punto importante aquí es al momento de pasarlo a mi estilo. Sobre todo cuando se trata de animales o seres que tienen partes sobresalidas del rostro. Como el pico u hocico largo.

Based on the reference image, I am applying the shadows. An important point here is when I adapt it to my style. Especially when it comes to animals or beings that have protruding parts of the face. Such as a long beak or snout.

Cuando el rostro de un personaje tiene la expresión que quiero, siento que avancé bastante. En este caso serían los ojitos y las cejas. De seguro se te hace raro ver un águila con cejas, pero estoy segura que tienen un par escondidos por allí.

When a character's face has the expression I want, I feel like I've made significant progress. In this case, it would be the eyes and eyebrows. It must seem strange to see an eagle with eyebrows, but I'm sure they have a pair hidden somewhere.

Si se trata de pintar, empiezo por los colores claros hacia los oscuros. Normalmente inicio por el fondo, pero en un inicio no pensaba ponerle fondo. Las patitas y el pico fueron los elegidos. La ventaja de esta técnica, es que no tienes que utilizar técnicas de pintado ni nada. Puede ser darle color solo al contorno.

When it comes to painting, I start with light colors and move toward dark ones. I usually start with the background, but initially I didn't plan on adding a background. The paws and the beak were chosen. The advantage of this technique is that you don't have to use painting techniques or anything else. You can just color the outline.

El águila solitaria, tiene unas enormes garras como todo águila. Y un pico bicolor, eso creo que sí es único de su especie. Otra cosa, al inicio quise hacer un dibujo tipo composición, algo como una reunión de águilas. Luego recordé que es solitaria… Aunque, creo que eso no quiere decir que no tenga familia.

The solitary eagle has enormous talons, like all eagles. And a two colored beak, which I believe is unique to its species. Another thing, at first I wanted to make a composition-type drawing, something like a meeting of eagles. Then I remembered that she is solitary... Although, I don't think that means she doesn't have a family.

Por eso le agregué ramas a su alrededor. Agregué tonos de negro en su cola y su pecho, y pinté las ramas de color marrón. Supuestamente las ramas están secas.

That's why I added branches around it. I added shades of black to its tail and chest, and painted the branches brown. The branches are supposed to be dry.

En este punto, creí que así quedaría el águila. Me parecía que era el personaje más triste que dibujé hasta el momento. Ahora que lo pienso, es extraño ver a un animal sonreír. Le agregué más sombras a su cuerpo, resaltando su color oscuro.

At this point, I thought that was how the eagle would remain. I thought it was the saddest character I had drawn so far. Now that I think about it, it's strange to see an animal smile. I added more shadows to its body, highlighting its dark color.

Como se ve en la foto. Este dibujo lo hice la semana pasada, semana en la cual estaba full con otro tema y no tenía cabeza para sentarme a dibujar… Y creo que eso lo plasmé en el águila. Por lo general, antes de dibujar mi mente tiene que estar despejada y sin asuntos pendientes. De lo contrario, se me complica crear algo o hacer algo relacionado a las artes. No sé si también te pasa eso.

As shown in the picture. I drew this last week, a week in which I was busy with something else and didn't have the headspace to sit down and draw. And I believe I captured that in the eagle. Usually, before drawing, my mind has to be clear and free of pending issues. Otherwise, it's difficult for me to create something or do anything related to the arts. I don't know if that happens to you too.

Al final le agregué un fondo de cielo azul. Para este dibujo utilicé lápices de colores, tinta negra y una hoja blanca. Esta fue mi primer ave del año y quiero seguir dibujando más aves. Ya sea águilas, aguiluchos, arpías, halcones, lechuzas y búhos. Y en diferentes posiciones y tamaños.

Aunque, no vuelo ni he volado en un avión, me sorprende lo inmenso que es el cielo y el mar. Cada uno con un ecosistema distinto y similar a la vez. Ambos espacios siento como si fuesen independientes de la fuerza del hombre. Además, tienen otra gravedad. Espero el próximo año aprender a nadar y así perder ese temor al agua.

Finally, I added a blue sky background. For this drawing, I used colored pencils, black ink, and a white sheet of paper. This was my first bird of the year, and I want to continue drawing more birds. Whether they be eagles, harriers, harpies, falcons, owls, or horned owls. And in different positions and sizes.

Although I have never flown in an airplane, I am amazed by how vast the sky and the sea are. Each with a distinct yet similar ecosystem. I feel as if both spaces are independent of human influence. In addition, they have another gravity. I hope to learn how to swim next year and thus overcome my fear of water.
