¡Hey! Un gusto poder estar por aquí nuevamente...
Estoy entusiasmada por mostrarles una de mis últimas obras realizadas para la universidad en la materia de Dibujo y Color. Se trata de una pintura realizada con diversas técnicas de una escultura muy conocida: una copia en mármol del torso masculino en bronce, creado alrededor del 430 a.C. por Policleto.
Teniendo una imagen como referencia, el objetivo de este ejercicio era copiar fielmente el torso masculino, tal como se observa, logrando generar en la pintura la impresión de lo que es: una escultura.
Realmente me parecía una tarea bastante difícil de hacer. En otras oportunidades he intentado hacer dibujos realistas y sé lo dificultoso que es copiar las diferentes texturas y características del cuerpo humano. Antes de comenzar con esta obra, solo podía pensar que copiar las texturas de una escultura iba a ser aún más difícil, y más aún por tener que utilizar las cinco diferentes técnicas de entintado sobre el papel que ya habíamos repasado durante todo el semestre. Las cuales eran: acuarela, acrílico, chimo (que es una crema o pasta de nicotina que los agricultores consumen mucho por esta zona), creyón o lápices de colores y temple.
¿Cómo no iba a dudar? Era la primera vez que me tocaba mezclar todos estos materiales y tratar de conseguir una copia de la textura del mármol. Y sí, fue dificultoso porque era como hacer un experimento; al final no sabría cuál sería el resultado, pero también fue maravilloso explorar las posibilidades que tienen estos materiales al combinarlos para pintar.
A fin de cuentas, quedé deslumbrada con lo que logré construir, y mi profesor aún más. Por eso agradezco tanto su empeño en motivarnos para alcanzar el máximo de nuestro esfuerzo en todo lo que hagamos. Todo lo que se hace con gusto termina resultando bueno.

Hey! It's a pleasure to be here again...
I'm excited to show you one of my latest works done for the university course in Drawing and Color. It's a painting created with various techniques of a very well-known sculpture: a marble copy of the male bronze torso, created around 430 BC by Polykleitos.
Using an image as a reference, the objective of this exercise was to faithfully copy the male torso, exactly as observed, managing to generate the impression in the painting of what it is: a sculpture.
I honestly thought it was a very difficult task to do. On other occasions, I have tried to make realistic drawings and I know how challenging it is to copy the different textures and characteristics of the human body. Before starting this piece, I could only think that copying the textures of a sculpture was going to be even harder, especially since I had to use the five different inking techniques on paper that we had reviewed throughout the semester. These were: watercolor, acrylic, chimo (which is a nicotine cream or paste that farmers consume heavily in this area), crayon or colored pencils, and tempera.
How could I not have doubts? It was the first time I had to mix all these materials and try to achieve a copy of the marble's texture. And yes, it was challenging because it felt like doing an experiment; in the end, I wouldn't know what the result would be, but it was also wonderful to explore the possibilities these materials have when combined for painting.
Ultimately, I was dazzled by what I managed to create, and my professor even more so. That's why I am so grateful for his dedication in motivating us to reach the maximum of our effort in everything we do. Everything done with pleasure ends up turning out well.
