Today's art is a little different than my usual Splinterlands fanart postings. It is also a bit of an experiment in terms of a mixture between hard, line art and soft shading.
Two best female friends, on a road trip with their boyfriends, have stolen their boyfriends' clothing and decided to get a photo of their mischief.
The small story behind what is going on in the picture, heh. But now, without further ado, the process, which was slightly different from my usual as well.
I started as I normally do, with a rough sketch of what I wanted. From here I would usually jump straight into doing the line art. But I opted to go a different route.
I decided I wanted to clean up the rough sketch a bit first before going any further. Yet instead of going to do the line art as I normally would, I decided that I would first start with the flat colours.
In all honesty, this actually worked better for me and it might be something I stick to doing in future pieces. I can't tell you why it seemed to work better for me, as I really don't know. It just did.
Of course, I then added the line art and began the process of shading. I decided to use softer shading over cell shading, as I wanted to see how it would appear against the harder line art. (Also, bad Sam for forgetting to save more process shots!)
Here you can see the highlights being added. Though they are pretty subtle. I also slightly adjusted the one on the right's nose line art, which was bugging me a bit.
Some more subtle additions of pink to the skin tone, more details to the eyes and lips, highlights in the eyes, or eyelights, hehe, and a reflection off the glasses.
And finally the addition of some textures to both shirts and the background round off the picture overall. This is a very simple piece and I tried not to go too complex with whatever part I was working on.
I think it's quite an interesting effect, the line art and the soft shading. I am not too sure what to make of it overall though. Still, it was a fun experiment!
Thanks

Hahaha - beautiful art, although your description of what they are up to sounds like the start of some fanfiction!
Hahaha, don't tempt me! I don't think I have the courage to do fanfiction right now.
Is it too soon for a second anonymous account? hahaha!
I actually hadn't even thought about that 🤔 You really should stop planting ideas in my head!
YOUR DRAWING SKILL ARE INCREDABLE 👍💖
Thank you so much!
I really like how this came out, @pixelhuntersam! It's almost like a cross between photography and animation (if that makes sense, which it probably doesn't...lol). Beautifully done!
Thank you so much @traciyork it was an interesting experiment. I might give this kind of mash up another go sometime.
Thank you so much @qurator and @ewkaw 🌻
This is so impressive! I wish I could draw.
Thank you so much @bmjc98 I am glad you like it.
Do you sell NFTs? If not, you should give it a try.
I haven't actually yet. I really should, but I will need someone to help guide me the first time. @zakludick think you can help me get my first NFT minted?
Which marketplace are you gonna sell them? I used to mint my simple drawings to Atomic Hub but I already stopped coz I don't have much time to do so many things simultaneously. Anyway, good luck to your NFT plan. I'm sure you're gonna make it.
