Today I will tell you a little about this small gift dedicated to someone very special to me.

My aunt's birthday was approaching, an aunt of affection and not of blood but with the disposition of one, or at least with the disposition that one should have, so I could not fail to give her a piece of me.

Previously I had already bought her a cup and a package of coffee, knowing how much she liked it, but in addition to that detail I wanted to draw her something that she could have stuck on her wall and decorating her room.

Room in which she usually spent her time watching shows such as Criminal Minds, CSI Miami, some random movie and, of course, ancient aliens.

The latter was the inspiration for this drawing.

That and also that she wanted one similar to one I had done before and you can read about it in my previous post

Well, the university didn't leave me much time, much less a recent commission for a mock-up which I did in a hurry, more for a matter of pride really; but having left the lineart finished earlier, once everything was ready I could concentrate on the color.

I don't know at what point I had the idea that the alien would come out of the broken wall but it was an idea that continued until the final producer.

I started painting the background with black paint, it would advance a lot and besides that it would give a considerable depth.

Once I had that background ready I would move on to focus on the cakes.

The idea is that the UFO is leaving the cake piece by piece, this was something improvised at the moment I made the sketch since originally the saucer was taking the piece of cake in the alien's hand.

*But I admit that I liked it better this way....

I filled in all the laser light with fluorescent marker, a risky choice really but it would end up working anyway.

With the laser ready I decided to skip the cakes and move on to coloring the alien's skin.

Here's a detail, my aunt wanted the alien to be gray, maybe because it was closer to the supposed reality and general descriptions but something happened.

I didn't have a gray color...

I ended up using a silver color which I shaded with a 7B drawing pencil and I admit it didn't look too bad.

I blended the 7B pencil with a cotton swab.

Once the skin was ready I could move on to coloring the eyes, which as popular culture dictates, should be a deep black. Although she would leave her obvious lighting...

As it was an alien, I wanted to make the tongue green, it also serves as a reference to the color of my previous alien.

After this I just colored the hat with a solar system motif or something like that, following the outer space theme.

With the main character ready, now I could dedicate myself to the cake, first I tried the small slice and after that I continued with the bigger cake.

Even though all the cream was pink, it took me a while as each dripping drop had to have its respective luminosity which I highlighted with a bit of color cream and shaded with some purple.

Although the first piece would be yellow, green and blue; the top and bottom tiers of the cake would be only purple and green. Keeping of course, a medium brightness to give it that bright touch by degrading the color and adding white color.

The letters of my aunt's name, or rather, her last name were colored with a base of yellow and then a gradient orange while those of her nickname were a gradient from blue and purple to white.

I also added some details with marker like hearts and various lines.

Technique that I also applied to the planet below the letters.

What was painted with the fluorescent marker I detailed by shading with green color and made more details of lines with marker.

Although the letters of the title, some are different from those of the name, most of them are based on the gradient with some other details.

And speaking of details, just needless to say that some of these are figures on the rest of the paper, the stars on the black mantle and so on.

Hoy les contaré un poco acerca de este pequeño regalo dedicado a alguien muy especial para mi.

Se acercaba el cumpleaños de mi tía, una tía de cariño y no de sangre pero con la disposición de una, o por lo menos con la disposición que debería tener una, por lo que no podía dejar de regalarle un pedazo de mi.

Con anterioridad ya le había comprado una taza y un paquete de café, sabiendo lo mucho que a ella le gustaba el mismo, pero además de ese detalle quería dibujarle algo que ella pudiera tener pegado en su pared y adornando su habitación.

Habitación en la cual generalmente se la pasaba viendo programas tales como Mentes criminales, CSI Miami, alguna película random y, por supuesto, alienígenas ancestrales.

Este último fue la inspiración para realizar este dibujo.

Eso y además que ella quería uno similar a uno que ya había realizado con anterioridad y que podrán leer al respecto de él en mi post anterior

Bueno, la universidad no me dejaba mucho tiempo, mucho menos un encargo reciente de una maqueta la cual hice apresurado, más por una cuestión de orgullo la verdad; pero habiendo dejado el lineart terminado desde antes, una vez todo listo pude concentrarme en el color.

No se en que momento tuve la idea de que el alíen saliera de la pared rota pero fue una idea que continuó hasta el productor final.

Inicié pintando el fondo con pintura negra, adelantaría bastante y además de eso le daría una profundidad considerable.

Una vez con ese fondo listo pasaría a enfocarme en los pasteles.

La idea es que el platillo volador esta dejando el pastel pieza por pieza, esto fue algo improvisado al momento en que hice el boceto ya que originalmente el platillo se llevaba el trozo de pastel en la mano del alíen.

Pero admito que me gustó más así..

Rellene toda la luz del láser con marcador fluorescente, una opción arriesgada la verdad pero terminaría por funcionar de todas maneras.

Con el láser listo decidí saltarme los pasteles y pasar a colorear la piel del extraterrestre.

Aquí un detalle, mi tía quería que el alíen fuera gris, quizás porque se asemejaba más a la supuesta realidad y descripciones generales pero ocurría algo.

Yo no tenía color gris…

Terminé usando un color plateado el cual sombree con un lápiz de dibujo 7B y admito que no quedó tan mal.

El lápiz 7B lo fui difuminando con un cotonete o hisopo.

Una vez con la piel lista podía pasar a colorear los ojos, los cuales como la cultura popular dicta, debían ser de un profundo negro. Aunque dejaría su obvia iluminación…

Como era un alíen pues quise hacerle la lengua verde, también funge como referencia al color de mi anterior alíen.

Tras esto solo coloree el sombrero con un motivo de sistema solar o algo así, siguiendo la temática del espacio exterior.

Con el personaje principal listo ahora si podía dedicarme al pastel, primero fui probando con la rebanada pequeña y tras esta seguí con el pastel más grande.

Aunque todo el betún fuera rosado, me tomó rato ya que cada gota chorreante debía de tener su respectiva luminosidad la cual resaltaba con un poco de color crema y sombreaba con algo de morado.

Aunque el primer trozo fuera de colores amarillo, verde y azul; los pisos superior e inferior del pastel serían solo de color morado y verde. Manteniendo claro, una mediana luminosidad que le diera ese toque brillante al degradar el color y agregar color blanco.

Las letras del nombre de mi tía, o más bien,su apellido fueron coloreadas con una base de amarillo y luego un naranja degradado mientras que las de su apodo fueron un degradado de azul y morado a blanco.

Agregando también algunos detalles con marcador como corazones y líneas varias.

Técnica que también apliqué al planeta que está debajo de las letras.

Lo pintado con el marcador fluorescente lo detallé al sombrear con color verde e hice más detalles de líneas con marcador.

Aunque las letras del título, algunas son diferentes a las del nombre, la mayoría se basan en el degradado con alguno que otro detalle.

Y hablando de detalles, solo sobra decir para finalizar que algunos de estos son figuras en el resto del papel, las estrellas en el manto negro y demás.
