Begining Of This First Illustration

Maybe I'm too much of a perfectionist to do illustrations for a childrens book...what need to be simple images really, right?
But to say that I am a perfectionist is not really accurate at all. It isn't that I am displeased with the work I make, when I'm making (which...well, it's been a long while. I'm rusty)...

To the contrary, the hours staring at a painting only to add one or two nearly microscopic dots, is an almost excruciating sort of pleasure. The entire process is a pure delight for me, except that...

When I get to working artistically, in whatever medium, the support of friends is super important to literally keeping me alive. The person who says, "I'm hungry. Are you hungry?" breaks me out of that trance and brings me back into my body such that I realize that not only am I quite hungry and also thirsty...but my bladder is near to burst as well.

Every piece that I write here for example, usually requires the better part of a day, especially when I write in Spanish and English both. What fun!
