Some early drawings

I was sitting in a coffee shop some time ago. I was not there for any reason in particular other than savoring some much needed alone time. Usually, I gaze out the windows, read, or writing when at a coffee shop but I didn't feel like any of those that day. I didn't know what I wanted to do, just that I wanted it to be creative and new and challenging.

I don't know what lead me to draw/sketching but I instantly enjoyed it. I don't have my first sketch here (too lazy to go and find it) I am still very new at the game but wanted to share a few of my early attempts.

The one above, use as the title page, is one of my favorites. I was attempting to draw exposed brick walls complete with cracks. I used an HB pencil (the most common)

Here are my attempts at drawing an apple and a simple cup. My intention was to use shading to define the edges of the cup also to define the shape and shadows.

I wanted to compare how it would look to draw a simple outline first and then see how I could improve on that. Again using shading to define the outlines.

I am still very new at drawing and I wish I had more time to truly pursue it. I have found many on-line classes that will teach techniques and whatnots but those are often above my ability to pay and/or I do not have the time to get my monies worth out of the classes.

so, for now, I will keep a sketchbook handy and explore this world as time allows. I am finding it extremely relaxing to simply listen to some meditation music and allow the pencil to guide the way. Even if all I end up with are lines and shadows.

love those wall crack drawings. music is always a mood creator for drawing. if i am not feeling like drawing i listen to some music and with the rhythm i find some topic/mood to draw
