Hello again everyone! It's me, the one who takes a long time to upload a new illustration. This illustration is the result of the feelings that my best friend's visit provoked in me.
My best friend, throughout my 25 years, like any person, I have had several best friends, people with whom I connect almost 100%. Our friendship is something that I consider recent, it was a year ago that he contacted me and got me out of my routine and helped me to put some order in my life, being honest, I know that I have improved a lot thanks to him, more than anything in the emotional area; however, our story begins many years ago at the party of a friend we have in common, that night we both got drunk and as part of a game of challenges, we kissed, note that my friend is gay hahahaha, however, we did not find it weird or uncomfortable hahahaha. After that, we only greeted each other in the street when we saw each other, and we had each other added on facebook. It was a job opportunity that started our real friendship.... Without further ado, I present to you the stumbling process of my illustration.
Hola de nuevo a todos!! Soy yo, la que tarda mucho tiempo en subir una nueva ilustración. Esta ilustración es el resultado de los sentimientos que me provocó la visita de mi mejor amigo.
Mi mejor amigo, a lo largo de mis 25 años, como cualquier persona, he tenido varios mejores amigos, personas con las que conecto casi al 100%. Nuestra amistad es algo que considero reciente, pues fue hace un año que contactó conmigo y me sacó de mi rutina y me ayudó a poner algo de orden en mi vida, siendo honesta, sé que he mejorado muchisimo gracias a él, más que nada en el ambito emocional; sin embargo, nuestra historia comienza hace muchos años en la fiesta de un amigo que tenemos en común, esa noche ambos nos embriagamos y como parte de un juego de retos, nos besamos, cabe destacar que mi amigo es homosexual jajajaja, sin embargo, no nos resulto raro ni incomodo jajajaja. Despues de eso, solo nos saludábamos en la calle al vernos, y nos teniamos agregados en facebook. Fue una oportunidad de empleo lo que hizo que comenzara nuestra verdadera amistad... Sin más que agregar, les presento el tropezado proceso de mi ilustración.
THE PROCESS // EL PROCESO
I wanted to draw a boy, that was my main idea, as a result of my friend's visit. I wanted it to look like him at first, but I won't fool you, my friend looks nothing like this boy. I happened to be wandering around pinterest collecting things for my reference board, and I found hair, so being the first time I drew a person from the front, I took the opportunity to try to recreate the hair I saw on pinterest, that's why the boy is so different from my friend.
However, friends, my friend is a very beautiful man hahaha.
Quise dibujar un chico, esa fue mi idea principal, resultado de la visita de mi amigo. Quería que se pareciera a él al principio, pero no los engañaré, mi amigo no se parece en nada a este chico. Resulta que estuve paseando por pinterest recolectando cosas para mi tablero de referencias, y encontré cabello, asi que al ser la primera vez que dibujé a una persona de frente, aproveché para tratar de recrear el cabello que vi en pinterest, por eso el chico es tan diferente a mi amigo.
Sin embargo, amigos, mi amigo es un hombre muy hermoso jajaja.
Really, first time I've drawn a character from the front and this is one of the few where it's a male character. It was very new for me that he was in that pose, but I wanted to get out of the classic standing pose.
De verdad, primera vez que dibujo un personaje de frente y esta es una de las pocas en las que es un personaje masculino. Resulto muy nuevo para mi que estuviera en esa pose, pero quería salir de la clásica pose de pie.
These lines were not going to be the final ones, but then I decided that they were. I searched pinterest to find an outfit I liked for him. The earrings, rings and bracelets were improvised.
Estas líneas no iban a ser las definitivas, pero luego decidí que si. Indagué en pinterest para hallar un outfit que me gustara para él. Los zarcillos, anillos y pulseras fueron algo improvisado.
It doesn't make much difference but, I always create a layer above the lines, to make certain details that I don't want to be with the lines, I want them to stand out a little bit, so in these layers I usually make details like accessories, in this case, the braids of the shoes, details of the earrings and also the bracelets and rings.
No se nota mucho la diferencia pero, siempre creo una capa por encima de las lineas, para hacer ciertos detalles que no quiero que esten con las lineas, quiero que sobresalgan un poco, asi que en estas capas generalmente hago detalles como accesorios, en este caso, las trenzas de los zapatos, detalles de los zarcillos y tambien las pulseras y anillos.
This is the first time I've done someone with this skin tone, I thought I wouldn't be able to handle it.
Es la primera vez que hago a alguien con este tono de piel, pensé que no lograría manejarlo.
When I thought about the background, I thought about how bright my friend is, I mean, he always brings me joy when I see him, and it turned out that his visit was a surprise, so I thought the beach atmosphere was appropriate, something cheerful, calm, my friend gives me a break from everyday life. I feel calmer when he shows up.
Cuando pensé en el fondo, pensé en lo brillante que es mi amigo, quiero decir, el siempre me trae alegría cuando lo veo, y resultó que su visita fue una sorpresa, asi que me pareció adecuado el ambiente playero, algo alegre, calmado, mi amigo me da un respiro de la vida cotidiana. Me siento mas calmada cuando él aparece.
I created an orange fill layer, helping me with the background. I multiplied this layer and lowered the opacity to 50%.
Creé una capa de relleno de color naranja, ayudándome con el fondo. Esta capa la multipliqué y le bajé la opacidad a un 50%
To that fill layer that I placed over the character, I erased the edges, thus creating the light effect.
A esa capa de relleno que coloqué sobre el personaje, le borré los bordes, con lo que crearía así el efecto de luz.
I created a second fill layer, just like the first time, and did the same process but erasing more of the border.
Creé una segunda capa de relleno, igual que la primera vez, e hice el mismo proceso pero borrando más del borde.
Then I created a new layer where I would add deeper shadows.
Luego creé una nueva capa en donde añadiría sombras más profundas.
I made a new layer of fill, in the same way as the others but this time for the place where the boy is sitting and the sand under his feet, after that, I created deeper shadows.
By the way, I don't know if you noticed but before I started with the fill layers, I was extremely unhappy with the lines of the characters, so I redid them with a much finer brush.
Hice una nueva capa de relleno, de la misma manera que las otras pero esta vez para el lugar en donde esta sentado el chico y la arena bajo sus pies, luego de eso, creé sombras mas profundas.
Por cierto, no se si lo notaron pero antes de que iniciara con las capas de relleno, estaba sumamente inconforme con las lineas del personajes, asi que las volví a hacer con un pincel mucho mas fino.

Unlike my last illustration, I gave this character a smile, because I was really happy that my friend visited me. Not many people visit me, in fact he is the only person who visits me.

A diferencia de mi ultima ilustración, a este personaje le di una sonrisa, porque de verdad me hizo muy feliz que mi amigo me visitara. No son muchas las personas que me visitan, de hecho es la única persona que me visita.
