Sketching

Do you have an artistic style?

I would like to share today some of the sketches I've been doing.
The first ones are quite old, I like to work on my "free hand" not caring SO strictly about the realism or if the proportions are 100% correct, in order to kill the perfectionist, allowing my own style to come to the surface.

Otherwise, I spend all my hours focus on "practice" "practice" "practice" and I never finish any piece 'cause I could practice more.

To be honest, I have the problem that I like TOO many things and this makes it hard for me to stick to one style.

It is true that I thought a solution could be to mix many of the styles I like. But still, I believe one can mix some art that seems impossible to be together such as minimalism and sketching. But If you mix too many of them it can kill the essence of each style.
For example, you can make art nouveau in a sketchy style, but then, it loses the lovely bold lines and plane colors.
I dunno if I'm talking nonsense.

I am considering having some Art Noveau on my tattoo style.

I hope you like it. Tell me, what is your favourite style?
Is it an artist out there that has a remarcable style that one can recognize the author just by seeing the piece?

Share it with me on the comments :)

I don't have a favorite style, and certainly don't have my own. I was always drawing as a child and had very high grades but at some point in my teens when hanging out with the wrong crowds, I lost this creative side until some years ago.

I still only draw or paint when I feel like it and often feel lost about where to start. I wish I would practice a bit more but like you, I like too many things making it hard to pick what to do first.. and then I get distracted by something else haha..

Thank you for your honest words…

Yeah it’s easier to drift away from painting than to continue with it. But I’ve seen you doing great!

Sometimes what I find gratifying to start with is, to look for something that I like and give it my own twist.
I’d love to see some of your new creations 🥰

Beautiful skecth, the pose is on point, great job drawing the anatomy!

Hehe great! Thanks for your words!

Great sketches, llunasoul : ) they say practice makes perfect. And if you enjoy drawing, keep doing it and don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Personally, I don't have one favorite style. To me, it's better to seek and follow what appeals to your own artistic sensibilities and to allow your taste to change organically over time. It's all part of the journey! Because there are so many styles, it can be very overwhelming to try to replicate or incorporate all of them into your work.

Have you heard of Nathan Walsh? His work is what I would consider "stand-out". See you around 🌼

Yeah, I guess pressure comes when you wanna make it your job or your sign. But putting pressure away can make it easier to achieve, isn't it?? I've been trying to put it away for soo long.

Nathan Walsh, no I didn't know about him, it is absolutely mesmerising!! great example indeed :P

Well, just keep going with your art if that's what you enjoy 🥲.

Yeah! His work is meticulous and so fascinating.
